  1. Not just talking about scoring, but even good efforts on target or dangerous balls whipped in, Ive noticed a fair few times, the kick is either whipped straight at the keeper or floated into a random area and cleared by bigger defenders. Its just something I really feel we need to practice, and if we do already, then practice more! In the modern game set pieces are probably now the most important part of football and apart from the occasional screamer free kick we seem to be shite at both taking and defending them
  2. why we dont have a defined set piece taker is beyond me. At pens its a scrap to see who can get the ball first, and at free kicks its a debate to see who can put it in the stand first, its shocking that at 1 end a so called professional team cant defend set pieces and leak goals softer than my last shite, and at the other end (apart from the very occasional screamer) their free kicks are shite and they couldnt score a penalty even if the opposition had a blind midget in goal

was the doing the dirty part not poaching our best youngsters after agreeing not to
  4. that would be the best thing, a designated "choir" or "ultras" area to keep the singing and atmosphere going and the rest can sit/stand/be quiet/sing as they wish. Unfortunately never gonna happen tho,the authorities running our game dont give a fuck about anything other than their next foreign jolly

Id love to see Gordon Young given the resources to really take our youth teams to the next level.(I know we cant afford it but we can dream) We have brought through some cracking young players the last few years and have some fantastic talent coming through, the youth teams play some fantastic football and the enthusiasm and respect they have for Youngy speaks volumes, just imagine how he could do given the budget of some of the bigger clubs?

to be honest, Il be selfish and say I dont want Gordon Young anywhere near our managers position, Craig Brown for as long as he wants the job then someone like Derek Adams or another good young manager Id he happy with, but seeing his work with the youth teams and how highly rated he is by them, I want Youngy in charge of keeping our conveyor belt running for as long as possible
  7. a double from Steve Howarth, thats 3 in his first 2 games, he was highly rated at Clyde and on trial with the h**s,seems like we could have ourselves another gem in the youth ranks

on the fishal site, Gary Smith 6 month loan to Dumbarton
  9. I agree with you to an extent but I think we need to wait to see if Reynolds is here after next week. Assuming we dont sign a right back,I would like to see Page + Hutch integrated more into the defence and Craggs experience would be invaluable for the young guys but im not sure its time to throw him on the scrap heap yet. I would disagree tho about distribution from the back tho, yes the guys in defence need to pass the ball better but the midfielders need to take more responsibility in their movement, too often the only ball available is the long punt. Id love to see us adopt Gannons 4-2-3-1 formation, think Broon could work wonders with that, or even a back 3 which would mask Craggs lack of pace

so thatll be 4 boys at Annan?
  11. Aye CB + AK have been superb for the club,if only they had the financial support they deserve we could have been looking at a fantastic season. They are just what we need 2,a well respected, loyal and experienced management team!
  12. I fear a humping too. They always bounce back in the SPL from results like that in europe.Plus the effort we put in last night, our inability to take the chances we create and the fact were incapable of stopping goals at the other end mean its prob gonna be a hiding. Praying we can grind a draw or fluke a win tho
  13. Depending on where you look, Lukas cost £300k - £1m and was on around £6k - £8k pw , bottom line with a wage decrease maybe, top line way out of our reach.
  14. most of the crosses that ended up on the opposite wing were back post crosses where no-one had run to,again its not his fault no-one can anticipate a cross and take a chance,If we had a striker or even midfielder running to back post we`d have had 3 or 4 free headers from 5 yards out last night, yes some of his crosses hit the stand, yes some are too long but every game he plays he puts in 5-10 crosses at head height across the face of goal, you cant blame him for the ball ending up on the other wing when no-one bothers to get into proper positions. If you asked Beckham,or any other top winger, they would all say their job is to put the ball in an area that would create danger, its then up to their strikers to convert those chances, Humph for the most part does that. Id like to see training drills where the strikers and midfielders practice movement and runs into the box cause it really seems were clueless at times and its not just Humphrey, its the same when Hammell crosses from the left,we just seem unable to anticipate or move for crosses
  15. you could argue our players should have stood up and maybe Murph should have passed the pen to someone (Not Hateley who was fucking shocking lst night) but at the end of the day,its the officials job! The ref allowed 4 of their players to verbally abuse him (only booking 1 of them),he allowed 1 of their boys to intimidate Murphy,he allowed Carrol to run anywhere apart from his goal line and he allowed 4 minutes to lapse between the pen award and the pen taking, utterly inept and quite frankly disgraceful lack of authority shown
  16. absolute nonsense there, by your reckoning Humphrey should stop, look and cross every ball straight to the temple of the striker? bollocks, if that was the case EVERY match in world football would end up with 25 goals in it. A wingers job is to beat his man and cross the ball into the danger area, you cant ask for more than a ball whipped across the face of goal,5 yards out at head height, Its the strikers job to get on the end of those chances, the best strikers do exactly that! If Humphrey put every cross directly onto the forehead of Sutton or Blackman he would be the best player the world has ever seen. The long ball game pisses me off too but what else can the defenders do when the boys in the middle are hiding behind the opposition, no-one is looking for the ball, Humph stays wide. Las + Hateley moved less than a crippled elephant and so if Humph was marked, the only targets were long balls to Sutton + Blackman. Having a playmaker who looks for the ball would have helped that last night, and having a midfielder capable of running onto the target mans flicks would have helped too but we cant/wont pay to bring those guys in so Its gonna be a long season of the same thing, unfortunately were just gonna have to get used to it Also, we werent just passing the ball sideways last night out of choice, once we went forward and the ball to Humphrey wasnt on we had nothing else, no creativity,no ideas and Odense knew that, so they put a line of 6 men across the box and shut us down, even when we threw it in the box, their players were bigger + stronger so they mopped up the majority of our crosses
  17. not long home, that loss was stinging at full time and the drive home hasnt really helped the feeling disperse. Few points I took from it The Good - 1. Great crowd, 10,000 Well fans was great to see, good noise from most parts 2. Hearty performance from the team, we played a "seeded" team with multi million pound players and should have taken at least 4 off them 3. Odense, a savvy european performance. Took their only chance of the game, took their time at all set pieces and got the ball in the box, time wasted like fuck, dove all over the shop, gave away free kick after free kick in midfield where we cant hurt them. The Bad - 1. Impotent strikeforce with zero creativity. Missed chance after chance and the failure to replace Coke + O`Brien bit us tonight big time, time and again when we needed a goal we pumped a long ball up to Blackman or Sutton with no-one from midfield running to support or score from their flicks, time and again our only outlet is Humphrey on the right,no-one to run at a defence and commit players 2. Pub League decision making and creativity in our set plays, we wasted a shocking amount free kicks + corners tonight. Hateleys dead ball delivery was embarrassing, we tried short corners, quick corners, quick free kicks and fucked up our momentum every time, the poorest aspect of our play tonight. 3. The officiating, one of the worst refereeing performances Ive seen in a long time. Djemba Djemba gave away at least 8-10 fouls and only got booked late on for mouthing at the ref. The 2 hand balls we werent given, We should have had 3 pens tonight, 1 we got a corner after an Odense player clearly punched the ball out,the other was a cracking save by the defender a yard or two out from Blackman. How the linesman, who had the clearest view in the stadium didnt even see them makes me despair. The penalty was nothing short of a fucking disgrace, ref blows for pen + is immediately surrounded by 4 screaming Odense players, takes over 1 minute to sent the offender off by which time their keeper has run away to the half way line for a blether. Keeper is back + Murphy has ball spotted but the Odense players STILL surround the ref,1 of them then moving to give Murph verbals as well,3 minutes have now passed and as everything clears the keeper decides he needs a drink and fucks off a second time. so just shy of 4 minutes between pen award and take, only 1 of the 4 odense players booked for abusing the ref, Murph subjected to harrassment from Odense players and the keepers completed a half marathon trying to be anywhere apart from his goal line. Simply a fucking disgrace! Im summary, a combination of our refusal to replace lost players and our shite finishing beat us tonight. The officials should have been wanked on their parents bedsheets for all the use they were! And I dont care how good your bacon is or how tasty your pastries are,the Danish can Fuck right off!
  18. Not long now till were off down to the game. Massive game for the club tonight! But its an obstacle we can overcome! Remember, sometimes lifes shadows are caused by standing in your own sunshine! Now is the Time, No inferiority complex,No glorious failure,No epic letdowns,We can win this game,we must Believe! Turn every 50/50 into a MFC 70/30,run that extra yard, jump that extra inch, make that last ditch tackle, where others may shirk, put your body on the line, bring the roar from the stands cause we all have a part to play tonight! Lets get ripped into these Danish bastards and show them how good Motherwell Football Club can be. Fir Parks gonna be jumping,my throats gonna be fucked by the end and when the smoke clears Motherwell are gonna be in the Europa League group stages! Believe!! MON THE WELL!!!!!!!!

    Ins & Outs

Not impressed with Paton, average at best so feel we`d be better off trying the youngsters than bringing in an old average rb just for the sake of it. I said that about Davidson + Mackay when Saints signed them! £60k for the pair wasnt it? unbelieveable we wouldnt pay that for them
  23. Think that would be the idea anyway, makes sense in not opening the top deck with the extra stewards that would take etc if you dont need to,
  24. think Id go for Randolph Saunders - Craigan - Reynolds - Hammell Lasley - Hateley Humphrey - Forbes - Sutton Murphy Between Forbes + Fitzpatrick in mid as I feel we`d be ok defensively with Las + Hateley sitting, for me, Forbes offers more passing and dead ball wise, just please god break his legs or drag him into the east stand if we get a penalty! If Sutton isnt fit, Id prob go for Fitz wide left for th more defensive aspect
  25. got my tickets at the weekend, headin down thurs lunchtime. Cannot wait
