    Exclusive: Player #3

Dundee Utd signed Morgaro Gomis from COWDENBEATH and he has become one of the best midfielders in Scotland. Its about the player, not the club he played for! All 3 of these guys are described as very talented, and among the most promising players outside the Top divisions in England so its not JUST any Northampton/Shrews player, its their best players. Plus Gannon knows and has tracked these guys before,he also is the kinda guy who will be up to speed on the SPL as he seems like the bookworm/analytical kind of person. We dont know a lot about them and what Gannons ideas of SPL starting line up is so till then we are just gonna have to sit tight and see
  2. Craig Gupwell was one of our better prospects a year or two ago and got released by MMG, interesting he was playing for us today. Certainly seems the end of the road for Darren Smith tho
  3. I do believe the Solskjaer + Johnsen thing and have heard it from a few people, but that is the 1 part open to question, still with big ecks eye for players I wouldnt put it past him. Hyypia and Hiddink is definately fact!!
  4. Solskjaer was on trial as part of a double deal with Ronny Johnsen. Fee was between £500k - £700k, McLeish said he`d sign Johnsen on his own but Solskjaer was too wee to be a good striker. As it had to be both he said he couldnt justify the fee just cause he wanted Johnsen. 18 months later Man Utd signed them for £1.5m and they went on to become 2 of the best players in the Premiership Sami Hyypia was definately true, came on trial but we didnt want to pay the fee, heard as much from the man himself as my ex`s best mate was a "close friend" of his a while back. And Guus Hiddink said himself in an interview not too long ago that he applied for the Well job and spoke to Chapman but his vision for the club was deemed "too radical" so instead we went for the safe option and employed Alex McLeish and let him squander almost £2m on such stars as Andy Roddie,Scott Howie, John Henry,Shaun McSkimming + Stevie Woods
  5. As Wellfan said, Page came from Portsmouth and Hutchinson from Wallsend BC , Signings like this boy Gillies seem to be Gannons trademark, he signed Oli Johnson to Stockport from non league and im sure a couple more and they, esp Johnson, were turned into very decent players, good to see were casting our net a bit wider too And Welcome to the Well Chris!
  6. he`s a right winger, so we have Humphrey right, Slane left + O`Brien both, gives options
  7. Its so refreshing hearing your manager say " I have contacts/ideas of players down south who can do a good job for us" then actually go out use them and do it. Unlike the esteemed MMG, who I see has started at Aberdeen with his favourite need, a big dominant defender, wonder if it`ll take 2 years+ to find one for them?
  8. aye but that was due to a now closed loophole as you get compo for u-24 players, but its u-23 for cross border deals. This is different as the player is only 21 so no matter what they get compo,
  9. aye we will have to pay compo but dont think it would be too much, and if its a 3 year deal for a 21yo highly rated winger (rated one of the best prospects outside the premiership apparently) who has had scouts of both Everton + Aston Villa watching him the last few months, even £200k would see us treble or quadruple our money easily in a year or 2. very promising and decent coup for us if signed + sealed
  10. We know how they are gonna play, sit back, pack defence and make us break them down while looking for any throw in inside our half, the question is, Can we break them down? on evidence of thurs, Im not too confident. I would play the same back 4 with Saunders + Hammell backing up the wingers to give a different angle of cross ball, Forbes to sit in mid as he will have ages of time to pick his passes. O`Brian and Darren Smith on wings with specific instructions to get "chalk on their boots" and stretch their defence as much as poss, Slane + Murphy inside with free roles to run with the ball at their feet creating chances, shots + free kicks, and Sutton in the middle to try get on the end of any set pieces, crosses etc, basically 4-1-4-1 which will spend 80% of the game as 2-3-5. Pretty sure they will score as we seem completely unable to deal with any kind of set piece be it soft floaty corners or 300 yard long throws Score? the heart says 3-0, head says 2-1
  11. well that guy has inspired me to pull my boots back on,I thought Butterbean had retired his boxing gloves and pulled on a pair of boots for the craic, could explain why not 1 of our midfield got near him all game Did the wee number 20 who got subbed on actually come from the bench? or did the big number 4 js shite him oot? Never mind a prop forward, that guy was the size of an entire scrum!
  12. Archdeacon didnt really shine but didnt actually get a start and got injured after a few weeks so was a little unfortunate, and Forbes did really well at Dumbarton, scored a couple of goals, set up a few and had 2 or 3 really impressive games, The guy really seems to have a wand of a left foot, hits some superb crosses, corners + free kicks
  13. we need 6-8 new players to make it a competetive squad, if Gannon is looking at 5-6, It sounds like Darren Smith + Ross Forbes will be playing a bigger part and the youth will play a bigger part as well, esp with Gnnons reputation for building young teams so I dont think we have anything to worry about with regards losing young local players
  14. Aye I noticed that right away, cetainly more refreshing than, "Hi, Im the new manager but I really wanted the Sellik job, not that this job wasnt my first preference, but Id have preferred the job at the tattiedome" Talks a good game and great early impressions, welcome aboard Mr Gannon
  15. sounds decent, small player but known as a central midfielder with an eye for goal (scored 8 from mid last season) and has played right back +right mid so fits Gannons ideas of flexible players. Certainly looks to be moving quickly, happy days
  16. I just phoned up as im coming from inverness, you buy the tickets over the phone + they will be held at Fir Park until 6pm on night of game, then taken to shiteberry + can be picked up at their ticket office, you just need to tell them if you cant make it to FP + need to get them at the ground when you phone up
  17. I think that report shows why were so desperate to sell now that weve lost Shitanta, our wage bill last year increased by over £1m to something like £3.4m pa, or over 70% of our turnover!!! suppose that puts to bed the myth that JB was footing the bill for Hughes + Porter. And also the one about MMG working miracles with no money
  18. surely we could match that? certainly shitting it if Fraser is no1 this season

talk of Burnley + I think Nottingham Forest, probably Cardiff as well as we seem to be their new feeder team lol

that was my point as well, obviously we cant afford to pay £200-£300k outright for players but Im just saying its a possibility that Gannon has said in his interviews if we need money, sell Clarky,Quinn + Reynolds for as much as possible, bring in guys he knows from Stockport who are as good or better prospects and we lose 3 key players, sign 3 key players plus make £1m+ profit. He could then use any money we make from Europa League qualifying plus the freed up wages from Malcolm,Hughes,Smith,McLean,Klimpl,Krysiak,Sheridan to supplement the squad with a bargain or 3 and its happy days

It could be that Gannon has stated in his interview he is ok with selling Reynolds,Clarkson + Quinn as he knows he can replace like for like with his former guys at stockport, sell Clarkson - £800k, sign Oli Johnson for £250k, £550k in bank sell Quinn - £300, sign Johnny Mullins for £100k, £200k in bank sell Reynolds - £1m, sign Josh Thompson for £200k, £800k in bank 3 key players gone, but same/better replacements signed + up to £1.5m in bank. A Possibility?

wouldnt mind seeing Owain Fon Williams,Dominic Blizzard + Oli Johnson following Gannon from Stockport, think all 3 would be available for free or minimal and with their tiny budget surely we could afford a decent wage package too. League of Ireland could be a good place if scouted properly, guys like Stephen Hunt,Kevin Doyle + Keith Fahey have come from there recently and made good impacts at decent clubs was going to say Josh Thompson but think he`s destined for the premiership, and Matty Mainwaring has recently signed a new contract hasnt he? tho he was your ypoty this year wasnt he?

nah i read a bit about it,think it was in a play off game it started,Sky stalled on fixing a broken sky+ box for 9 months so he refused to speak to them, sure there was prob another reason but well funny anyway

Charlie, just wondering your opinion if Gannon would raid Stockport for a player or two? are all your guys available for free/knockdown? have heard you got a few very decent players in ur squad
