are these guys old enough for another year at 19`s or are any going to have to sign pro wi 1st team?
-
Inverhunt, as you have seen a lot of the 19`s, We know Page + Hutchinson have nw signed deals + Coutts is gone but what about the other guys in the squad (ie) Paul Slane, Bob McHugh,Steven Meechan + Steven Lawless, what kind of players are these boys and ar they anywhere near 1st team contention?
-
both good prospects and big strong guys, goood piece of business and good luck to the pair of them
-
young Hutchinson sounds like he`s playing well, not a bad half by all accounts
-
well done Clarky
-
i heard that 1 but from what ive heard he is a bit of a lazy bastard and doesnt look like he will make it into top team, Coutts on the other hand Id have thought wouldnt be far off 1st team,or even going on loan for experience and benefitting us later maybe Coutts can change his name by deed poll to McGarry/Fitzpatrick/Sheridan then go see MMG, he`d prob get a 5 year deal + a raise! A selling club releasing a very promising 19 year old keeper who has played very well at a good level and is capped by his country at all levels up to u-19? Well done there guys
-
what the fuck is that about? Coutts has represented Scotland at all levels and has been superb in reserves + the 19`s the whole season by all accounts and he`s been released?? who else from the under 19`s has been released?
-
what I dont understand about it is if he really is going to go with them, why not bed a few in just now when our games mean fuck all, they are going to provide the basis of our team next year but playing them just now (3 months before new season) means were apparently weakening our team? playing a team of guys who just wana go on holiday now, or giving 3 or 4 young guys their big chance and telling them if they impress they will get a spot on team next season? I know which team id rather watch, and which one would try/work harder
-
£50k for a proven spl defender and a promising GOALSCORING midfielder isnt too bad at all,esp when ur squads thinner than Homer Simpsons hair. To be honest im not too bothered bout losing MacKay but Davidson could bite us on the arse, tall, powerful box to box midfielder,6 goals in 32 games from mid,and 20 years old. thats the kinda guy who will net St Johnstone a tidy prifit next summer if he has a decent season in the SPL, something id have thought we would be more interested in That BBC report was interesting tho, So next year were gonna have a team full of youth players/ That will be the same youth players MMG reckons are not good enough for SPL football just now?
-
if true thats shite, an very worrying! if we cant compete wi St Johnstone just what level of shite are we gonna bring in this summer?
-
as i said, from the horses mouth. It might not be 2k on the button, but certainly in that ball park,
-
when does Marks contract run out? is it end of next season or end of 2010/11? If next year, its a certainty he will be off this summer if we do receive any decent bid!
-
straight from the horses mouth, he wasnt far off re-signing wi Caley for £600-£700 pw,then we came in and offered £2k, he couldnt believe it and signed straight away
-
Just offer same as Dundee and offer better terms! tho not going crazy with wages (Mike Fraser is on £400pw at Caley and signed for us as MMG offered him £2k!!! )
-
we made a bid of around 50k on transfer deadline day in august for Davidson, and tried for Mackay earlier in the summer. Davidson is a real decent prospect, 6`3 goal scoring midfielder (6 or 7 in 35 games this year)
-
1 guy who could do a job is a big centre half in English Div2, Magnus Okuonghae ,from Dagenham+Redbridge, 23 (would cost english teams a fee,but we`d get for free!), 6`3,built like a brick shit house, seems quite highly rated by some division1 teams.Could be a wee Porter style deal, sign, get a good 12-18 months + sell on to Derby or the like for a profit!
-
Sure it was a double deal or nothing scenario, £500k or £600k for Solskjaer + Ronny Johnsen. McLeish said Johnsen was a cracking player but Solskjaer would never be a good striker so the board pulled the plug
-
McSkimming £350k, Van Der Gaag £400k of which we recouped around £150k when we sold him on. Hendry £200k, Roddie £100k, Howie £200k, Woods £150k, Eddie May £100k + Mowgli + Kirky, so over £1.5m spent on utter shite, while turning away Ole Solskjaer (will never be a good striker! ), Sami Hyypia and a fair few others. The man wouldnt know talent if it jumped up and skelped him in the coupon. He took a good team and ruined it, did th esame with Hibs, and Rangers, was never impressive wi Scotland and got Brum relegated and this season scraped automatic promotion(they were runaway favourites to walk the championship with the strongest squad by a mile). Always has been and always will be Pish, just seems to be a talent of his, the reverse Midas touch, everything he touches turns to shite!
-
Was Stephen Dobbie, out of contract this summer, would have been a pretty decent signing im my view, but obviously and rightly he`s gonna follow the dough
-
Sure Coutts has 1 year left, sounds like a good keeper, Always sounds good in the reserve + 19`s games and always a pick for the age group he at wi Scotland,
-
Id like to see that as well but think if we blood youngsters,it might only be 1 or 2, with another 1 or 2 getting 20-30 mins each game off the bench. A relegation scrap (I mean other teams scrapping+fighting for points) isnt really where you wanna introduce loads of kids, and it depends on wether MMG gets any further with Hughes,Klimpl + Smith contract situations. Id like to see Jon Page,Steve Saunders,Paul Slane,Jamie Murphy + Bob McHugh feature tho, at a push, maybe the three Stevens, Coutts + Meechan or Lawless Id also like to see Darren Smith + Marc Fitzpatrick play all 5 games, see if they have what it takes. My team would probably be along the lines of Smith (Coutts) Saunders McLean Craigan Hammell (Quinn) (Page) (Reynolds) D.Smith Hughes Fitzpatrick O`Brian (Slane) (Lasley) Clarkson Murphy (McHugh) Page , Slane , McHugh would all get 30 min run outs from bench and maybe 1 start each
-
Had those two in mind as well, the talent is certainly there
-
Sorry bud but if you want a clueless buffoon, look in a mirror! MMG`s team + tactics were horrible today, Quinn didnt look too comfortable + would have been far better in his more natural side+position. McLean played ok but is a centre half at heart. I think garymfc meant that Klimpl along with that defence meant we had 5 players (half our team) who wouldnt/couldnt influence attack in a game where we needed to score, not saying Klimpl shouldnt have played, but having Klimpl + a defence where the full backs didnt add anything going forward meant more pressure on Hughes/JOB/Hammell to create the chances
-
I dont go along with the "anything less than last year would be a disappointment" mantra. We lost Rossco + didnt replace him, and Ports was injured then sold so has missed a fair chunk of the season so missing the top 6 may be a little disappointing but really, take your goals out of the team its not that bad finishing 7th, Its more the way its happened that has stung people. Time + again weve heard the "this is a massive game for our season" line and its been followed by a performance that would embarrass a pub team. Especially hearing this in the St Midden cup game,Killie game and today (3 times in a couple months) it just grates that in the biggest games of our season we continually see baffling tactics, zero effort and unbelieveably shite performances! so to be honest people have every right to let off steam and be a bit fucked off. And in financial times like these, I think people have every right to question if MMG has been worth the bumper contract and also about themselves spending a fortune going to 5 meaningless friendlies
-
There are several cracking players in Div1 worth looking at,unfortunately all would cost money and seeing as we just spunked £400k today i wouldnt be surprised if we got that Caley reserve keeper n maybe a couple loans and nothing more! Some of the guys worth looking at - Dave MacKay (solid+versatile defender) Murray Davidson (big, young, scoring midfielder) + Leigh Griffiths (dynamite goalscorer) at Livvy, Gary Harkins (goalscoring midfielder) frm Partick. Bob Harris (young left back),Scott Dobbie (decent striker) QOS. Jim McAllister (left mdfielder) Morton
