  1. Carswell made 28 league appearances for McCall when we finished 2nd in the league in 2013-14. I'd settle for him and those results any season.
  2. Would not be surprised if Murray is in the mix.
  3. The reason will have been a journalist calling him up, or talking at a presser and asking that specific question so they can fill a page. They will be asking any OF related manager the same so they can get their clicks. Hence the sub headline "The former Celtic captain has been tipped as a frontrunner to replace Stuart Kettlewell at Fir Park."
  4. I am also ruling myself out of the Motherwell job. They are a great club and I'm sure they will find the right person, but that person will not be me.
  5. I think you're confusing our stewards with competent professionals.
  6. Yir useless.... *pulls out phone* *checks Wikipedia* "... eh, Thompson. Away back tae...." *gets phone out pocket again* *rechecks Wikipedia* "Blackpool... I think" Meanwhile, make your choice...
  7. As I mentioned in the new manager thread, anyone who can organise a defence will be a step up from what we have now.
  8. Even then some fans were too busy complaining about how useless Hollis, Hately, Page, Forbes, Kerr etc. were to fully enjoy it.
  9. Falkirk making and missing the best chances then lose a goal on the break. Continue to make and miss the best chances, then lose a goal when they can't defend a corner. Looks like McGlynn is doing a live audition for the job.
  10. The last man we need at the helm is Billy Davies. He went full tinfoil hat in his last few jobs and has a track record of falling out with the board. And as per Wikipedia, it was even worse than I remember at the time:
  11. Good. Not a terrible manager by any means, but have seen nothing to suggest he'd be an improvement.
  12. The problem is we can't just splurge on one or two quality players, because we'd left with an even thinner squad that wouldn't make it through the first two weeks in December. Let's not forget the big spenders like Dundee Utd - a club whose financial model people on here used to say we should follow - ran up millions in unsustainable debt and then got themselves relegated to the Championship and stayed there for a few years. If we did that, we'd probably die. The reason we are a fan owned club is because Boyle, however well-intentioned, thought all you needed to do was splash out on those quality players and you'd have a better team. Adminsitration followed pretty quickly after that. So any time a club our size decides to start splashing the cash around, that's the risk they are taking.
  13. Is anybody falling for it? Or are they just cashing in on clicks?
  14. From listening to Caldwell - and I appreciate I'm reading between the lines here - he made it almost sound like a combination of long, intense days, no breaks, poor performances plus the fans abuse has burned him out.
  15. Priority number one still has to be a defender who can mark opponents and clear corner kicks.
  16. I wouldn't put it past Wallace making up the American job that Davie applied for before the plug was pulled.
  17. It could be 100% true. The problem is that when you're a football manager, you're going to take abuse from fans (home or away) whatever club you work for.
  18. That was our Board's fault. A terrible appointment.
  19. The start of a massively injury ridden playing career.
  20. Agree. Brown was arguably done as a player when he moved to Aberdeen. He was definitely done by the time he stopped playing for them.
  21. 100% this. If you eliminated OF connections, we would have missed out on the successful spells from Davie Hay, Tommy McLean, Mark McGhee (1st spell), Stuart McCall and Craig Brown.
  22. I had imagined when Brown took over at Ayr he'd be building a team in his own image. However, he has done the exact opposite, and I have really enjoyed watching them in the Friday night games I've seen. Would be a bit of a punt from a managerial experience perspective, but no doubts he knows the Scottish game inside out.
  23. And sadly they have already qualified for the knockout stages, so even a hammering doesn't prevent that.
