Their LLLWL league performance is definitely enough to give me the fear. On the other hand, if we start on the front foot like we did against Hearts and Dundee Utd, we could take a point or three here.

Although I should know better by now, I'm more surprised when people judge a new player (or write them off completely) after a couple of appearances. It's not like it's a secret that new players take time to get up to speed in a new team with new training methods, new team mates and new tactics.

Not quite a December game, but I expect a few more like this in store for the festive period. Gritty 3 points, with some odd flashes of decent football, but the conditions made it impossible to get any kind of traction (literally) in the game for long spells.

I can see at least one goal coming in the second half directly related to a mistake from the underfoot conditions. I just hope it's is that benefits.

While I don't have any problem with a manager not giving away the injury situation, it was disappointing to see Goss missing as he has been instrumental in our last 2 victories.

We sometimes put the pitch on the floor which inevitably led to at least one kneeling-on-a-player incident per match.

That was the pleasant surprise from the Hearts game. I don't think anybody would have thought that was our best starting 11, but they managed to produce the best performance of the season.

And everyone would take a couple of early season European games over the League Cup group ties against the same 3 teams. Seeing as winning the Scottish Cup gets you into Europe anyway, you'll just need to take both and put up with it.

The "european pointless pish" is a side effect of consistent league results. Only Motherwell fans would be upset by that. (And despite rumours to the contrary, it pulls in some additional cash for the club too). Still, I suppose playing Queens Park, Morton and Edinburgh City for the 2,375th time in the League Cup group in July is much more exciting.
