To be fair, in the EFL Cup, Mandron scored an equaliser against Brentford (at Brentford) after an early Ivan Toney goal, and Gillingham went on to beat them on penalties.
And I've watched a few lower tier teams in the this season's FA cup beat teams 4 or 5 tiers above them.
It was still entertaining though to watch Goodwin go down in flames. Even if we can only be smug until the next round.
If any gaffer is going to bring in another left back it's this gaffer.
From his interviews it sounds like we are actively working on more deals, including a replacement for Penney.
I suspect there are many, like me, who tend to avoid this place when we have a dip in form as there are only so many "man for the job", "must go", "punt him", "need defender/striker/midfielder/" posts you can take.
When we've signed players on 1yr deals the complaint is that's not long enough.
It's always a gamble either way.
I'm not sure we're exactly financially crippled though based on the last set of accounts. We do work to a budget though to ensure we don't do a John Spencer type deal.
Also, don't we have insurance that pays (or assists) with salaries for players with long-term injuries? I'm sure that used to be how it worked, but don't know if it applies these days.
It's rare that we bring in any player that the media has us linked to.
I'm pretty sure our managers and coaches know what we need, but as always, that's the easy part of the job. The tough part is finding someone in January who is better than what we have, that we can afford, that their club will release and that wants to come and play for us.
Also depends on whether or not he gets to choose. His parent club might be getting a better financial deal with a different loan club (or maybe even have a chance to sell him), and they have a lot of control where their players end up.
There's zero chance of getting a 20 goals a season striker into Fir Park in January, but on paper at least, this looks like a decent signing.
We've had no options through the middle, so even when KVV has been injured, sick or just off form he's still had to be the starter.
That comment deserved more likes.
From the official website it seems that Stockport changed tactics and stopped using a winger, so he's looking for more game time elsewhere.
Hope he's up to the challenge as we need options out wide.
