  1. Now you mention it, I don't remember Yosemite Sam being clean shaven. It's all starting to make sense.
  2. Halls of Fame intentionally spread out inducting their best players over a number of seasons otherwise people lose interest early on.
  3. Former Players' Club looking for donations to their benevolent fund. Direct link the the justgiving page is here.
  4. We need to aim for about 75% possession. They can't score when they don't have the ball. Would be just our luck if we find our scoring touch and stick 3 or 4 chances away, and still lose. I'm genuinely interested to see how SH approaches this. Whether he goes for a park-the-bus, flood the midfield, man-marking, counter-attacking or some combination.
  5. That would be hilarious, if only to read your meltdown posts.
  6. Do McGinn and Lamie not count as experience at the back?
  7. Can't beat a left back playing at left back. Penney showing how important that is.
  8. Thoughts and votes before we enter the void of the international break...
  9. If you 'd rather we played more like Robinson's St Mirren than Hammell's Motherwell you are in for a long season of disappointment.
  10. Mark Gillespie will be able to show him all the best pubs to watch the first team play on match day.
  11. First of all, I didn't see anything over the weekend about the police insisting all games in Scotland had to be cancelled, So put that aside for a minute. If I was handling communication for the league I'd just be as clear as possible For example. 1. Police haven't told us anything. Statement: the police are unable to confirm any plans for upcoming matches 2. Police think there may be some games that have to be cancelled, but can't say when or where Statement: the police anticipate that a small minority of games may be impacted and we will communicate the details as soon as we have them 3. Police say they think games in Edinburgh or Glasgow may be affected Statement: there is a possibility games in Edinburgh/Glasgow may be called off at short notice due to a restriction in police numbers. We appreciate this is not ideal and will try to give as much advance warning as possible etc. etc. No need for weasel words or finger pointing. Just clear facts, impact and how we plan to deal with the situation as it develops.
  12. Or every cricket match (not cancelled at the weekend) or golf tournament (not cancelled at the weekend) or rugby (not cancelled at the weeked) or horse racing (not cancelled at the weekend) etc etc. Nobody is saying there aren't legitmate reasons for cancelling games. What I am saying is that our league has a track record of poor management of these things (like some of the 'covid' postponement debacles with St Mirren and Killie) and they aren't showing any clearer leadership now.
  13. Of course, but you know they will use it as an excuse for any poor decisions they make or have already made.
  14. Still has the weasel words: I still wouldn't be surprised to see some games cancelled with the excuse that they are sending police elsewhere to assist, or can't send them to games because of higher threat levels of terrorist activity. Even the "we can confirm the intention for the professional game to resume as normal" statement isn't definitive. They could just have said "we can confirm the professional game will resume as normal". Better than nothing, though, and at least there should be something to watch somewhere.
  15. I admire everyone's confidence in the competence of our administrators who are on board with us kicking off a major cup tie at 6:15pm.
  16. Was watching the team in claret and amber losing in rugby league. Switched to golf now.
  17. Also, those in Westminster are much more likely to be Racing or Cricket fans than football fans. Can't miss out on a chance for Champers at The Oval.
  18. I agree - both sides of the debate (or at least the more extreme ones) will make their thoughts known vocally and publicly regardless of the football. Both during the off-time and when it resumes. I'll post one more thing on this topic and then I'll stop. I read this online this morning, from The Metro. That's the kind of thing that I find objectionable. Whether it's the BBC deciding or the Palace (or Government) dictating, an institution mandating that you can't laugh during the period of mourning is, at best, draconian.
  19. But would have wanted a game cancelled for each of them? Or were you happier to see them receive applause during a match from fellow fans?
  20. I thought the Queen did a good job. I don't think the job (or the institution in its current form) has any place in a 21st century democracy. I have no problem with people personally handling it however they choose, but a "period of national mourning" is something from the Victorian age that makes me cringe. And being annoyed the football is cancelled while discussing the reasons behind it sounds to me like it belongs in a football forum.
  21. I'm in the opposite camp. Maybe I've been in the US for too long, but being told when to mourn, for how long, and how to behave rubs me the wrong way. (Ironically the instruction will come from those who normally rail against the "Nanny State"). If you want to have a national day of mourning for the funeral then have at it, but whether you are pro, anti or indifferent to the Royals, forced, extended and selective cancelations all seem a bit excessive to me. People that are going to embarrass themselves and be disrespectful will have no problem doing that before, during and after the no-sport period. Thankfully, lack of football aside, I'll be able to avoid most of it.
  22. To be fair, I think 5 minutes with Boris and Truss would do that to most of us.
  23. I didn't buy any training tops this year, but I did buy a home and away kit. When Macron first became our supplier XL was my size, and the XL tops fitted me perfectly this season too.
  24. Last 5 league games vs Hearts at Fir Park we have won 4 lost 1. And the loss was 0 - 1. Some teams are just a good match up and Hearts at home has been one of those in recent times.
