  1. I've heard a couple of interviews with Kettlewell where has said exactly that. His two favourite terms are "strip it down to basics" and "add some layers later" What he's doing now is exactly what was needed in our position and, for whatever reason, Hammell couldn't or wouldn't do.
  2. Somebody needs to tell that to Celtic.
  3. Better than they played against County last week, but needs to be put in context related to how rank Aberdeen's away form has been.
  4. Plus, it's always nice to see Goodwin losing. A thug on the field.
  5. Utd still look most likely to drop. Things can change after the split, of course, but of all the teams down the bottom they have the deer-in-headlights look. Also need to pin this for the "new manager bounce" chat. It doesn't happen as often as people think.
  6. This is Aberdeen. They just gave away a pen.
  7. Although if Utd win, 6th place is on!
  8. I think Mandron was intended to be the main partner for Kev, but of course we pulled our usual trick of injuring him in training. Great result though on a day when it was the result that counted. While I wouldn't say the breaks with VAR we got were lucky, it always feels that when you start playing better those also fall into place.
  9. That's made the last few mins an easier watch.
  10. half time team talk - "you beat tall keepers with low shots" done
  11. Is this the "say something steelboy might say, but worse" ChatGPT session?
  12. That keeper falls down a lot for a big man.
  13. I believe the modern football terminology is "traditional number 9"
  14. You have serious competition now Fozzie has joined us
  15. Certainly has an impressive CV at youth and senior levels.
  16. Aberdeen's surely, after 'Flow's first appointment gets the heave at the end of the season.
  17. So, in summary, the guy has a 20 year career and played 644 games, but we shouldn't hire him as a qualified coach because of one fight on the pitch and one "incident" with Tommy Wright where we don't even know what happened. As for the third situation, you misread wikipedia. When his contract was not renewed, he said it was "morally shocking" that clubs like Ross County were not talking advantage of the furlough scheme. He wasn't released because he criticized the club. So no need to be outraged at that one. Look forward to the same posters being outraged next time we discuss Willie McVie, Stuart McLaren or Ally Mauchlen (to name a select few).
  18. There are a few things we need to be focusing on to continue our efforts to secure a safe league position. Dundee Utd isn't one of them.
  19. To be fair, I think every ex-player that can string a sentence together ends up as a pundit at some point.
  20. There's not many teams in the league below us that are "playing well" County have been as mediocre with us. 2 wins out their last 5, both at home and against the teams in 11th and 12th spots. It's going to be another battle, but at least it will be a battle on grass. No reason to fear it though unless we plan on playing like Dundee Utd did in their defeat.
  21. Of course. And it must be difficult to avoid the temptation when a club down south offers much higher wages than a Fir Park academy player. It's all about long term vs short term. A back of the fag packet statistic seems to be around 60 first team appearances for us before moving leads to better things. At least it did for players like McAllister and McFadden.
  22. These complaints surface every time we lose a youngster. I'm sure of you know of a way to force them to sign the contracts we offer the club would be delighted to know about it. It wasn't that long ago people on here were saying we should follow the Dundee Utd model where they tied up their youngsters on lucrative long-term contracts in the hope one of them would generate a larger transfer fee. Didn't hear too much about it when they were struggling in the Championship and scrambling about trying to offload their millions in bank debt to private investors.
