  1. A closed door match. Or as we are now used to calling them, "a match".
  2. I think it looks good on shirts with no hoop or band.

The best thing about O'Donnell being in the Scotland squad is that it gives 'Well fans a target to moan about in the close season.
  4. I wonder why they bother scheduling all of our OF games at 3pm on a Saturday. Chances of any of them kicking off on that day/time are zero.

It is. We've had players like Gary McAllister who we developed in the youth system and captained Scotland in Euro 96 but he wasn't capped until after he left Motherwell.

In most tournaments I'd agree with that. With the weird 24 team format (which is ridiculous for a competition that used to have only 8 finalists) one win is likely sufficient to move on. So I can see us losing our next game then taking a 1 - 0 lead in the final game and conceding late. What it won't be a is a "glorious failure".

Big Dec may not be the flavour of the month on here, but I reckon he wouldn't have conceded the first goal. Our big issue coming into this competition was lack of fire power, and we are no closer to solving that one. Of course, this is Scotland and those of us old enough to remember other finals know that we'll find a way to give ourselves hope going into the final game and then find a unique way to be eliminated.

Tommy Coyne was the first Motherwell player to play in a World Cup - but that was for Ireland.

Only interacted directly with Andy a few times via messaging on this site and, as others have said, he was always nothing less than pleasant and helpful. When the worst thing you can say about a man is that he misspelled Mugabe once, you know he was a top bloke He'll certainly be missed around here.
  10. It's about this time every year I stop reading the Rebuild/Transfer/Ins&Outs thread and just wait on official announcements from the club. Maybe it's the pandemic, but it seems even worse than usual this time around.
  11. Maybe it's just me, but how often a striker smiles is at the bottom of the criteria I use to assess their ability.
  12. If you have any facts, then feel free to share. Otherwise, it remains pure speculation.
  13. The top of the Championship is very competitive as the newly relegated teams are wallowing in the massive parachute payments they receive. The bottom half is a bit more variable in quality as some of the teams like Ipswich and Sunderland found themselves passing through to lower divisions as their form dropped off a cliff. Barnsley were in the mix for promotion last season, so definitely a good move for him. You can't criticise a player for backing himself to succeed. I'm always a believer in the philosophy that there are more good players out there than there are available first team starting slots. So now it's up to the management/coaching staff to find the next one.
  14. Is there a set of Shoot! League Ladders we can use to track the tourney or do we just have to make do with a wall chart?
  15. The only thing (slightly) surprising about the whole thing is people are still convinced that the baseless rumours posted on here are fact. Well that, and that they somehow know the details of his contract.
  16. When people leave by "mutual consent" you can't really believe much of the official press releases. If the two parties are still on decent terms, they will agree exactly what will be said regarding how great each other is. If the the two parties fell out, then there is usually a legal agreement to say they can't bad mouth each other, so you get the "no comment" treatment. There is also often a contractual clause that attached to the severance pay that requires certain behaviour.
  17. Left by mutual consent. Which is usually the nice of way of saying he was sacked.
  18. They seem to like to run on small budgets there, but probably.
  19. St Mirren are the new Aberdeen when it comes to "just use Motherwell's scouting" recruitment policy.
  20. I'm impressed it was updated at all as our official site is often months behind in squad details.
  21. There were many people on here when I posted my complaints at his signing, tried to convince me that Bob Malcolm was going to be a great asset who played great football.
  22. I'm sure nobody thought I meant 100% of the global human population wore Nevica in the 80's, but just in case there is any confusion "we all wore it" is a figure of speech to suggest that there was a lot of it about. I humbly apologise to all the fashionistas who thought I was accusing them personally of wearing fluorescent jackets in the 80s.
