Exactly. Even a slightly under performing Gallagher and O'Donnell are worth having in the team. Getting their levels back up to their best will be a huge boost to our campaign.
I'm still convinced they only signed main on the strength of his performance against them in the semi.
Be interesting to see what Hornby does there. For all his goal scoring exploits in the Scotland U21s, he's one of the few players in that international squad that doesn't get regular first team football.
We should have beaten them in our last meeting. I think we'll finish the job this time.
As far as Hastie is concerned, moving him to Ibrox doesn't seem such a bad piece of business now.
Not only that, but whenever a proposal is made (such as more equal payments in the league) that would lead to stronger competition, Celtic are always against it.
And conversely, we've had players like Craig Moore, Bob McHugh and Dom Thomas who couldn't quite break through to the Premiership, but thrived in the lower leagues. It can be very fine margins, and difficult to identify exactly who will make it.
Given his hatred of plastic surfaces I think having all his home games on that pitch might push him over the edge.
Meanwhile, Gary Holt is on his way from Falkirk...
Always dangerous to be relying on other teams. We have plenty of points available to push us up the the table.
St Mirren and Livi are playing well right now (and even then we really should have won in Paisley). Dundee Utd are suffering the typical "newly promoted dip" and Killie, Accies and Ross County are all mediocre.
So no excuses if we can't keep improving results.
To be fair, if I was the new gaffer charged with getting the first team sorted out, punting dead wood and trying to bring in new players all in the space of 10 days, the academy and the youth players would be low priority.
Job number one is to make sure we aren't relegated. Job number two is "see job number one".
I can only think he was signed as a Plan B to bring on and lump high balls at when we needed a goal. While I'm all for giving players time to bed in, they need to show something when they get game time, and like most people on here, I just didn't see that with White.
It's the "wage thief" nonsense that I don't get. If he was on a 3 year contract and playing in the reserves to see out his deal, I would get it.
You might not like him as a player, but if a manager plays him 36 times in a season where we finished 2nd in the league, I'll need convincing he was thieving anything.
