  1. He still has a chance at the Celtic job, though.
  2. 38 appearances in the side that finished 2nd is the kind of dud I'd love to see every week.
  3. Aye, I think he just needs a break. With his U21 duties and every manager pointing out how he is always first to arrive, last to leave, and gives 110% every day, he's burning himself out. Sometimes a rest is the best option.
  4. I'd better get back to my work now. 1pm kick-offs are bad for productivity.
  5. Get in. The kind of grinding out a result we were crying out for.
  6. I'm not sure about the "leadership on the pitch" chat. It's rolled out with "divisions in the changing room" chat any time a team is struggling to find form. First time I saw us relegated Joe Wark was the captain. I doubt we were lacking leadership on the pitch then. Likewise, more recently, when we were in the playoffs against Rangers. McManus and Skippy weren't exactly poor leaders. I'd much rather we just started scoring some goals.
  7. The chances of reliable reative mid That's his only Premiership goal.
  8. And yet 99% of posts on here would tend to suggest the opposite.
  9. No, but a lot of us have endured seasons worse than this (including 2 actual relegations, one relegation avoided by reconstruction, one relegation avoided by Falkirk's lack of seating and 3 years in the First Division). We've also seen seasons where we struggled for 2 or 3 months, but did enough to turn things around. This team doesn't even rank in my worst top 10.

    Edvaldsson

Running an Icelandic article through Google Translate, there is a brief obituary here.

That's right - it was against Killie at Rugby Park. He was so close to the goals, he actually had one hand touching the post. It was quite special.

    Edvaldsson

Wiki has it confirmed from an Icelandic newspaper. Surprised he was only 70. I'd have pegged him as older (and less hair than his official picture)
  13. Taking our chances would be nice. Otherwise we'll need to grind out a point.
  14. It certainly hasn't helped we've had nothing to offer on the wings this season (and not much creativity from the midfield either).
  15. Also, it's January. If you have a reliable striker that's scoring goals you aren't going to loan him out to us (or anyone else). The only players that are available are ones that are - for whatever reason - needing games to get them back on track.
  16. As I predicted in the match thread, the number of injuries they have means he is just laying the ground work for a sudden Covid outbreak 2 hrs before they face us.
  17. Interesting that the board say the sacking "wasn't based around results instead being centred around culture." Given how many years he's been the gaffer there, it took them a while to figure it out.
  18. Talking down our talent then complaining about low transfer fees. The Motherwell way. He's probably about 4 or 5 years away from his peak, but like Cadden, people forget he's still young because he's played a lot of games. I've no idea how much further he'll develop, but I do remember he used to keep John McGinn quiet every time we played Hibs. Whatever happened to him?

    2021 AGM

So the business model we said we'd develop where we tried to either sell on academy products or bring in free transfers and sell them for a fee, combined with success on the pitch is not impressive? I'm struggling to think of better ways to make a profit than developing players to sell and winning games.

And a positive swing of over £780k to generate that profit.
  21. Aberdeen have been collecting injuries to key players recently and their defence is a calamity. So based on recent events I'm expecting the result here to be a Covid call-off about noon on Saturday.
  22. I hope they disinfected their toys before they threw them out the pram.
  23. The best performance I have seen from us this season was our 3 - 0 win at Pittodrie. That day we played Watt and Long as a front 2. I'm also in the camp that thinks Long can do a job, but we really do need to play him through the middle (with a striking partner). Trying to play him out wide is a complete waste.
  24. Every team is desperate to sign a reliable goal scorer. Any team that sells a reliable goalscorer in January is, to use the footballing term, mental.
