If I had to guess I'd guess a bridge closure.

He probably insisted on having Isla St. Clair as his assistant. (One for the auldyins)
-
He picked up the one Chapman let drop through his fingers from his photo shoot.
-
We've signed Nick Pope as our new keeper?
-
Ian Clinging's not a bad shout.
-
Given our track record with management appointees I would not be surprised if there are people we are interviewing who have not been mentioned anywhere.
-
Brophy has 2 league goals this season, so he'd be a prefect fit with the rest of our low digit wonders.
-
I agree with that, and I'd also argue he's used to working with a bigger budget than we can offer.

Salford have ideas above their station. From the games I watched, Alexander was doing just fine - he just didn't give them the instant success they thought they were entitled to. Salford have dropped down the table since he left and are out of the playoff positions, so whatever their plan was, it hasn't worked yet. Given his knowledge of the lower leagues and the fact he was head of youth development at Preston, I can see why he ticks a few boxes. Of course, I've no idea what kind of job he'd do for us.

Tommy Wright spent the last two seasons moaning he wasn't getting enough money from the St Johnstone board. Given they have a much bigger budget than we do, I can't see how he'd deal with the cut in funds. Also, I'd rather stick my head in a vice than watch a St Johnstone style performance every week until the end of the season. If we end up playing that style of football I'm giving up.

I agree it's unfair to judge him on 2 days. I don't just think he's the the right man for the job for now. He has been a key part in the management/coaching partnership this season that has landed us where we are and he has zero management experience. If Robinson had left because he'd been poached and the team was in a positive state, it would be a different story, but examples all round the leagues tend to show that when you are in our position you need an outsider with fresh enthusiasm and no baggage. It's tough on Las, and I hope we can find a position for him in the club, but that is the downside of being an assistant manager.
-
At the start of the season I thought he'd be away in January, so no big surprises here.
-
I hope we don't bring in a new manager based having Lasley as his assistant. It would be hard on Las (unless we can keep him around in a different capacity), but the hard fact is that when you are an assistant you tend to get hired and fired in pairs. I wouldn't want Wright for a number of reasons. The biggest one being his complaints before he left St Johnstone that the board weren't giving him enough money. If he thought the budgets were tight in Perth he'd struggle at Fir Park. If we are doing a 6 month contract with a view to a broader search in the summer, then maybe Wright would work, but it feels like it would be more of the same. It seems to me like we need someone to lighten things up and bring in a bit of positivity and, at least in his interviews, Tommy does not strike me as being that guy.

We could, but I'm not sure that's how the process works. I seem to recall there is a pretty long procedure to be followed through the proper channels and, at this point in time, FIFA hasn't determined Columbus has done anything wrong. Until the full process is followed and, if necessary, FIFA render a decision, I doubt we'd have much success. I think 'Flow said that could take at least a couple of years to resolve if Associations involved can't reach agreement. It's further complicated by the fact the MLS obviosuly don't fall under UEFA jurisdiction.
-
I wouldn't want McLeish as gaffer, but to be fair, he has admitted himself that he screwed up that piece of his time at Fir Park. That was early in his career though and he did improve after that.
-
Pretty much sums it up for me. I'd add a creative midfielder that can score 9 or 10 a season, but those other 3 are a higher priority for January.
-
Another reason we need a new face in as manager. When you hit these patches it's more about confidence than anything else. A new gaffer with no baggage or history with the current season is needed to inject a fresh approach. There's plenty of good arguments that we need to strengthen the squad, but the core of this team should have enough to be a middling Premiership team.
-
If nothing else, we've put the "new manager bounce" myth to bed. I said in the other thread I wasn't a fan of promoting the assistant to the manager's job in an underperforming team because they were part of the original problem. Nothing here today changes that opinion.
-
Have we played the same defence in consecutive games this season? It seems like every week the back 4 are different and struggle to form any sort of cohesive unit.
-
Back to the old pattern. Watt missing a good early chance followed by giving away a soft goal. Keeper deciding to wait until the ball was in the net before diving.
-
It's not great quality for me, but neither is the video at the moment.
-
The cynic in me just thinks it's the "make a few changes just to show there's a new gaffer" strategy that's been adopted with the team selection.
-
TBF, I don't think Robinson got rid of Ainsworth. He rejected the new deal that the club offered.
-
Agree with that. When teams go stagnant, as unfair as it may be, the assistant has to take part of the blame. It's rare that a number two succeeds when a gaffer is sacked/resigns due to poor performances. Assuming there is at least an average level of talent in the squad, a lot of the problems often lie in the psychology of a losing streak. As a result, an outsider with a new attitude and fresh ideas can make a positive difference that an insider cannot. Of course, if Las does take over, I hope he has massive success.

Saw Randolph started for West Ham today (and kept a clean sheet).
