Motherwell - St Mirren Scottish Cup 70's Alex Ferguson
weeyin replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
It was a classic for many reasons, but definitely not one for the purist. I'm pretty sure the BBC highlights started with the second half kick-off because there wasn't much for the neutral to enjoy in the first half. -
I saw his first goal of the season a few weeks ago. It was a classic.

The total time spent staring at the Verizon logo is worth exactly what you paid for it. Zero, for season ticket holders. About the price of a pint for overseas subscribers like myself. And overseas subscribers have more to complain about, because it's the upsurge in the numbers of the freeloaders that are causing the stress on infrastructure that we pay for. So, if anything, the season ticket holders owe each of us that pint.

Cup games are never part of season ticket packages (or overseas MFC TV packages) so I'm not surprised this is PPV In fact, for me, it's an opportunity to see a game that typically isn't broadcast. Don't they also need to split the gate money in these ties? Considering that all the season ticket holders get all the league streams for free, paying for the odd cup game seems reasonable and I'm happy to throw the club a few extra quid every now and then. Also, the stream last week was rock solid.

Aye, pretty sure it's PPV for season ticket holders and overseas subscribers.

Crawford has over 200 first team appearances in his locker, so there would something wrong if Crawford was a more complete player. I'm quite happy to see Maguire continue to be developed, though - but it's good to have options. We obviously assembled this season's squad knowing that the tight schedule and possible Covid disruptions would mean we need more depth - and even then we are struggling for cover in some positions.
-
Here it is. If he has a signature goal, this is definitely it - coming in from wide to hit one into the corner.
-
You mean when May dived?
-
Our best move of the game. Nice goal.
-
You'll need a hospital bed when we sell him in January. Blind squirrel day.
-
Is it not in the hands of the independent panel now? They probably need to fit it in around their real jobs.
-
If we lost both Campbell and Maguire, I'd go with Mugabi in defence, O'Hara back in mid with either Crawford or Lamie to join him. (Which means Robinson will move White back to mid to play beside Hastie...)
-
We need to pick one left back and stick with him. We've lined up with multiple defensive formations and personnel and, not surprisingly, been struggling to find a consistent performer.
-
That, plus I agree with Steven Gerrard when he said that under these circumstances it make more sense to have a late kick-off (maybe 5:30pm) to give players as much recovery as possible rather than the SPFL having Sunday kick-offs at noon.

Of course. The Czechs are better than us right now and deserved to win the group. It would have been nice to win it, but it's progress when people complain we missed out in playing with the elite teams rather than complaining about struggling against San Marino. We know what is needed now to qualify from our World Cup group, so the rest is up to the players. A decent balance of "fantastic, we are in the Euros!" and "we still have work to do to improve".

Back to the Arsenal, Liverpool, Man Utd, Motherwell, Motherwell defensive line up tonight.

There will be no topping that slice of genius.

Like the Livi game, but on grass.

I think you're being a bit harsh, there. He was resting the players that had put in an immense shift two and a half days ago, and who are undoubtedly physically and emotionally spent. A calculated risk that almost paid off. No doubt we'll see the regular starters back for the Israel game. And given that we've been unbeaten in the last 9, losing once is the opposite of "normal service".

Given that they can get him for free in June there is little chance of a big transfer free in the next window. Unless he extends his contract, of course.
-
Top goalscorer in the Premier League 3 times with 3 different clubs is quite an achievement; especially when 2 of those clubs are ourselves and Dundee.
-
So Hibs to win in a shoot-out and draw us at home?
-
Gallagher needs to make sure he gets first team football. The competition is strong for starting spots in Scotland defence right now and Big Dec - who joined the squad as a backup, remember - has grabbed his chance and just got better every game. There are plenty of others breathing down his neck if his form drops. If he ends up with a move, however, where he's not a regular starter then it becomes more of a challenge. On a slightly different note it will be interesting to see how the Scotland team lines up in the next couple of games. Clarke said he'll need to freshen up the personnel for tomorrow's game after the heroics on Thursday. I wonder if that will mean giving the defence a makeover (although, arguably, the back 3 doesn't have to put in as many yards as the rest of the team).

Lampard seems to like Gilmour and was already using him in the Chelsea squad. I know their transfer ban situation changed this season, but if he doesn't remain involved in the squad the most likely Scottish loan destination would be Rangers.
