O'Donnell has played at left back a number of times and is a natural full back. If you are making someone switch it's far better to switch someone like that than stick Grimmy there. Positioning is half the battle and if you normally play full back it comes naturally. I have zero confidence in Lamie at left back after the Livi game. He was a mile out for most of it, 100% to blame for the 1st goal and played a big part in losing the second. Any time Livi attacked down the right wing he was caught out. (I don't blame him for not being very good, as it's not really his position). The irony is we had Carroll, Dunne, McGinley and even Donnelly that can play left back and only Grimmy on the right - and we are struggling to fill the LB slot. I'd be delighted if Lamie's performance was just a temporary blip and he plays a blinder there in the future with O'Donnell at RB, but I'll need convincing.

It was certainly a different beast in the 70s and players like Big Tam prospered in it. Other like Gregor Stevens (first time around), Stuart McLaren, Willie McVie and the likes were in a similar mould - but Jaws was a class apart. (It also enhances the feats of guys like Graham and Pettigrew who played against it - and often on pitches that were like ploughed fields - but managed to excel at the game.)

O'Donnell was in the papers yesterday saying he's played at left back before and happy to play there again. If it's a choice between Grimmy at RB and O'Donnell at LB vs. O'Donnell at RB and Lamie at LB I'll take the former. It's far from ideal, but Lamie was a liability on Wednesday and his ridiculous handball changed the momentum of the first half just as we were starting to make some progress. With 5 subs, it's easy enough to switch to the other option if it's not working out.

You think we're better off sitting in and letting our "pish fullbacks" defend for 90 minutes? Maybe you need to get out the basement and grab yourself some sunshine.

Best way to tackle Hibs is attacking. Given our defensive problems, even more important to be on the front foot for this game. Like to see what Lang can do at some point as I thought he looked lively in his first outing.

You need another season in the Reserves before you are ready to step up and pick teams.

I see that the results in Europe this week means Scotland is now guaranteed to be ranked in the top 15 in the coefficient table for the 21/22 season. That means there are 5 European spots to play for in this campaign.

This is a game where I only care about the result. Entertainment is usually thin on the ground against this lot, but if we get 3 points that will do nicely.

We had 15 shots to County's 9 and 18 shots to Utd's 11. So the additional possession led to more attempts. Every team eventually concedes possession, so I'm not sure that is much of an argument. Our strikers struggled to score last season, but our midfield bailed us out in that department. I'm hoping one of the new signings will have a 20 goals season this time, but it needs to start soon.

We certainly haven't looked sharp in front of goals, but we've been fit enough to dominate for long spells in both games.

I know, right? Imagine how high we'd have finished in the league last season if he'd had a clue?

Our defence has conceded 2 goals in 2 games - one from a penalty. Long, Lang, Watt and White have scored zero goals in 2 games. I'm more concerned about hitting the back of the net at the moment. Nowhere near panic though. This is going to be a long and weird season. Strap yourself in and enjoy the ride.

I read somewhere that if there are a couple of upsets in the Preliminary round we could also end up seeded for the second.

The Rangers game was a freebie to let them test the system. While no sound is a minor annoyance, if it's only freezing for some people the problem might be with the internet provider rather than the stream. It's rock solid for me this side of the Atlantic. If it doesn't work, Player 2 and Player 3 use different methods and might be better. (I have an overseas sub, so don't know if PPV or season ticket has same options). This is a new service that was pulled together at the last minute, so I'm just delighted to be able to see anything.
