  1. Not to diminish Kelly's abilities - he is excellent and I'd be delighted to see him back - but the nature of the position means there are usually a number of good loanee options that we can probably get within our budget. Just look at Newcastle Utd's third choice for example.
  2. 2 months until the transfer window closes (and then there are free agents after that). Bit early to be panicking, but that's how it goes on here. Be even worse after a couple of games in the League Cup.
  3. I obviously have no idea, so instead I'll start a rumour based on this season's Macron templates and say we will see a variant of this one:
  4. While I don't buy all these conspiracy theories, I have to admit that since I received the two Moderna vaccinations my 5G reception has been terrific.
  5. Clubs (and the rest of society) needs time to prepare. If the data supports opening stadiums around that date, then it's good that they know now. If the infection rates change later, then make decisions based on that. Its just common sense. To make any kind of progress you need to both plan for the future and react to the current situation. (Or is the latest conspiracy Jason Leitch is superspreading just for laughs?)
  6. This is why we don't sign players from the Premiership. We can't afford the best ones, and nobody wants the others in our team.
  7. It's like when people over here latch on to my Scottish accent and assume I'm good at hitting a golf ball. So I have to explain to them I have just as much trouble knocking one through the wee windmill as they do.
  8. It's like the headline in The Scotsman last week "Billy Gilmour claims Scotland record from another one-time Rangers player" The record they were talking about was Chelsea player Gilmour beating the one Duncan Ferguson set when he was playing for Dundee Utd - the only club he had ever played for at the time.

He didn't walk into the national team, though - only the squad. And the only reason (like Turnbull) that he was in the squad was because UEFA allowed expanded numbers for the finals. If O'Donnell was injured, 99.9% chance Tierney would have been moved out there.

He might be the the future, and it's certainly worth including him in the squad to give him some exposure. However, the footballing world is full of promising players whose trajectory nosedives quickly. Sometimes for obvious reasons, sometimes not. Seven first team appearances is certainly no guarantee. A prefect example of that is our own Tony Watt. After he scored his famous goal against Barca he got a 4 year extension as the "next big thing" - but it never quite worked out, except for us.
  11. Was Carson not in that league when we signed him? (Although the overall quality seems to be variable).
  12. And they'll all be on here complaining they couldn't sit in their usual seat.
  13. Jonathan Page signs for Clyde. That training gear of his I bought in the fund raising auction must be rising in value quicker than bitcoin.
  14. A bit like Brian Kerr - has the footballing talent, not always the application to match. We do need a footballer in the middle of the park though, and haven't signed one yet.
  15. If you go back through the history on here, he was continually held up as an example of a player that left us and went on to better things. Don't hear it so often now, right enough.
  16. The St Mirren scout will be getting his jotters for missing that one.
  17. Well we did get a good sell-on for the tractor on Gumtree.
  18. Officially 4. So if we are playing 4-3-3 that gives us one sub. But of course depends on how you classify guys like Lawless.
  19. Campbell's a bit like Turnbull in that it's unlikely we can find a direct replacement. However, the upside of losing so many players means GA can build a team to play the style he wants, and bring the personnel to play that style. Of course the downside to that is you need to get recruitment mostly spot-on at the first attempt.

Beaten by the last World Cup finalists wasn't exactly a surprise. Sadly, our complete lack of fire power was also unsurprising. It's like watching Motherwell in the first half of last season.
  21. We were never going to qualify for one simple reason. We can't score goals. While the rest of the team aren't world beaters, they are good enough to match up to other 3rd place teams. Inability to score, however, will kill you every time.
  22. Does a 2000 fan minimum mean clubs like Accies need to throw people into the ground to make up the necessary numbers? (Aye, I know it doesn't - it just seems a very weird way to phrase it).
  23. I miss the old days when you could sign players without the need to swoop.
  24. And Leicester City should never have signed Jamie Vardy from Fleetwood Town. Probably a good idea to write him off now. Then when we coach him into a better player, the usual suspects can start complaining about not tying down players to longer contracts and moaning that we never get high transfer fees.

Although, Robinson had the opposite view that he sometimes didn't have enough self-belief.
