I know. That's why I said earlier in this very thread that spouting off in the media made him sound, to quote my exact words, petty and unprofessional. Glad you agree with me.

I said it earlier, but I suspect he was on the wrong end of some bad advice from his agent who no doubt told him to play hard ball and he'd get more money. And it didn't work.
  3. It's difficult to tell for sure, of course, but I always felt that Robinson loves the day to day interactions of club management and isn't ready to give that up yet for international duties. It will probably be in his future, though. I still think Baraclough will be the next NI manager. He has an impressive track record with their U21s.
  4. Exactly. If every club changed their badge based on current industry we'd all just have call centres as a logo.
  5. Only watching extra time, but Bowman the standout so far in the play-off.

Going public is petty and unprofessional. These days, the first thing an prospective employer does is google a candidate. If they find you bad mouthing even an ex-employer on Twitter there's a good chance your CV is getting filed in the bin. What happened here is no different to the other thousands of contract negotiations that happen every day. Many of them break down for many reasons and both parties just move on. The guy is lucky he's working in an industry that is back up and running. Lots of people who had been contributing to his wages are out of work and looking at long term unemployment; especially other self-employed contractors not covered by the furlough payments. I don't know if it was him or his agent that thought going public was a good idea, but given the current environment it was pretty tone deaf.

And field a speedy winger against him.

I'm usually in the "club shouldn't comment" camp. Once Tait went public, however, I can understand why they did. Even then you get stories in papers like The Herald today where they print Tait's side of the story, but not the club's response. Personally, I think his agent probably gave him bad advice and blamed it on us.
  9. Hibs have a very wealthy person helping them out too. Now they are pleading poverty, mothballing their academy and cutting players' wages.

TBH, like most (if not all) posters on here, I've had periods of unemployment and been made redundant a couple of times. From that perspective, some footballers seem to think they are special and should never be subjected to the same employment issues the rest of us deal with. Bottom line is that he was out of contract and a new one wasn't signed. If you're a professional, you suck it up and move on. Running to the media to complain makes you sound like a bit of a prima donna. When he left, he left with my good wishes. Now, I don't really care.

Not to derail this thread, but you want to be careful with hola. It's "free' because you are allowing their paid accounts to use your computer and internet (or mobile phone data) connection for any legit or dodgy activities on sites that are blocked by their data centers. It's part of their terms of service.

I don't know about 'Flo, obviously, but the club said that they had to reduce a number of contractual offers due to financial constraints. Sadly, no different to other businesses. I can see why those affected feel they were hard done by, but there are tens of millions of people in similar or worse situations. At least footballers can work again - lots of others are still waiting for the chance.

Windscribe VPN gives you 15GB a month for free. I use a paid service for other streaming, but I keep Windscribe as a backup for the odd time my paid VPN fails.
  14. Aye, between Barry Fry and O'Hara's agent, the truth factor is very low in this situation.

I pay a single, annual payment which isn't due to renew until later in the summer. So they already have my money. I don't know how much goes to the club, but hopefully it is that "significant amount" mentioned.
  16. Robinson said earlier this week he was looking for 2 more forwards - so one of those might end up with 11. These days, players often pick and choose their favourites, so it's not big surprise to see the wide range and the odd blank.
  17. Has Taylor touched the ball? I've only had one eye and ear on the game, but haven't heard his name mentioned.
  18. Nicky Law also starting for Exeter today.
  19. Bowman starting for Exeter in the play-offs today.
  20. By how many teams? And how would you resolve the unfairness in, say, The Championship where, with 8 (or in some cases 9) games to go, no team has mathematically secured promotion and every team down to Partick Thistle could accumulate enough points to secure a play-off spot? What would be a fair way to decide who is promoted into the expanded Premiership? Also, what were your fair plans before it got to this stage?
  21. Still waiting to hear what solution you had that would have been fair to every team in promotion and relegation slots.
  22. Not many good young wingers in world football, never mind Lanarkshire.
  23. The problem we faced recently is that we moved on most of our good youngsters, willingly or unwillingly. McKinstry, Hastie, Scott, McAlear and Cadden all left us and Turnbull would have too but for his injury. Given that one youngster a season claiming a first team spot is a pretty decent return, there is a lot of catching up to do there. Although we will be starting the season with Cambpell, Turnbull and Maguire in the frame - all of whom feel older than they actually are.
