Scott beating Tom James every time he takes him on. Need to take better advantage of that before Jack Ross fixes it.
-
Commentator saying Louis Moult, Marvin Johnson and Cedric Kipré all at the match today. They would have been a decent addition to the squad.
-
I saw Illic talking up his game in an interview recently, saying how well he has been treated by the club and his team mates while he dealt with some injuries. So it sounded like he was in the right frame of mind to kick on. Let's just hope his talent matches.

I'm buying 8, then not going.

FA Cup is exclusively shown on ESPN+ which is a subscription only internet channel. $4.99 / month and can cancel at any time. I think they still offer a 7 day free trial, so might be worth a look. They show every FA Cup game live, plus English Championship and lower league games plus the Rangers and Celtic Scottish Cup games (as well as loads of other sporting events). (Sorry I couldn't find an American to answer, but hope this helps )

If we did want it, there's also a small section in the West Stand for away support.

Long and Hylton both doubtful according to Robinson.

It tends to be the other direction e.g. Craig Moore hitting 27 goals in 41 games when he moved down the leagues to Ayr Utd. It's not just his time at Aberdeen that was lacking, though. His spells with St Mirren and Morton returned 14 goals in 64 games - pretty average for that division. He undoubtedly caught fire when he dropped to the third tier, and continued that form when Ayr Utd came back up to the Championship. But if he sticks around with Utd next season, we'll see soon enough how he handles the Premiership. I'm certainly not writing him off; just interested to see how he develops.

I definitely think Shankland has still to prove himself in the top leagues. There are players that knock in goals for fun in the lower leagues then struggle in the top flight. Likewise, we have had guys like Craig Moore and Bob McHugh that couldn't cut it for us but had great success when they dropped down a level. From what I've seen of Shankland, he doesn't contribute much more than goals. So if he's not scoring he doesn't offer much. That's unusual in the modern game - but goals are obviously a good quality to have as a striker, and when you score most weeks the other part of your game are not scrutinised. When he was at Aberdeen he didn't manage a single goal in 17 appearances. While he was a younger player then, that will give a few managers second thoughts. He has undoubted potential, but for me he is still untested at the top level. I didn't think he showed much against Hibs last week, but then he scored and helped them get a result. Will be very interested to see how he develops when he steps up to the next level.

I still haven't quite worked out Hibs since Ross took over. In our last game we passed them off the park for large spells, but we lacked any quality or cutting edge in the final third and they took advantage. In other games they've cuffed Aberdeen, lost to Livi and Ross County and struggled to get past Accies in midweek. I thought they dominated for large spells in their cup tie against Utd, but still only managed a draw. If we are a bit sharper in the box than we were at Easter Road last time out, it should be enough to get 3 points here.

How much worth is a Polworth worth if a Polworth's worth has worth?
-
3-5-2 lets us play wingers (or 3-4-1-2 if you like). Gallagher, Hartley/Mugabi, Dunne as back 3. But as I said earlier, I'd be surprised (but happy) if we ever end up being able to get 90mins out of them at the same time. Gillespie Gallagher Hartley Dunne Polworth Campbell Donnelly Hylton Turnbull Long Scott Would be a bit harsh on Carroll right enough, and Grimshaw.
-
Robinson loves his wingers, though, and I'd be surprised to see him favour a line-up without one. (Also, not Tait).
-
Maybe revert to a 3-5-2? Although I suspect by the time Turnbull is fit to play for a full 90 either he or Polworth will have moved on.
-
I think some people confuse tackling with work ethic. Most new players take a little while to adapt to our high press tactics, but Polworth adapted pretty quickly. Like Billy Dodds said on Saturday - the tactics we use are about compressing the space available to the opposition and restricting their options on the ball; it's not just about tackling. (And even if he didn't do any of that, I'd still have him in the team just for his ability to see a pass or hit a dead ball.)
-
I thought it was a clear cut penalty when I was watching the live stream, but watching it later it wasn't quite as obvious. The player had lost control of the ball and, as they all do, made the most of the collision with Gallagher (who couldn't stop sliding). Probably still a pen under today's rules, but I've always admired Collum as one of our top referees and happy to accept his expert decision on this one
-
No. Basing it on the many reports in the media about the interest from multiple clubs north and south of the border and the (well documented) silly money Utd have spent on their promotion bids the last couple of seasons.
-
He turned down plenty of offers, so even if we broke or wage structure (which is in extremely unlikely) there was little chance he'd pick us.
-
Maciver and Ndjoli (who can play as winger or a forward) too.
-
Illic put in a good shift.
-
Having Donnelly back in the team made a big difference too - and not just for his goal.
-
Highlight of the game at the end where the Aberdeen commentator is complaining Gillespie held the ball for more than 6 seconds, but no referee ever picks them up on that. Then his co-commentator pointed out that rule doesn't exist any more. Excellent 3 points. Especially given the enforced changes before and during the game. Who says we can't win the important ones?
-
Ever?
-
Aye, we're so good at that.
-
Probably not quite ready for a full 90.
