  1. Aye, that's *exactly* what he meant (although, Cooper cost us £50k in 1989 so no way we could afford that in today's prices).
  2. Like Robinson said in his podcast, the first thing he looks for in a new signing is pace - because you can coach the other parts of the game, but you can't coach speed. He might not improve, but he was certainly worth the punt we took. If nothing else, his pace gives the opposition something to think about even when he's not doing anything. He certainly hasn't improved the way Hylton has, but Hylton had 150+ first team games under his belt before he joined so was less of a gamble.
  3. I think Donnelly has been Hartley's outball recently, which is why he might have struggled a bit yesterday.
  4. Meanwhile: City of Dundee 0 - 4 Scottish Premiership
  5. If Hartley keeps it simple and just passes to the player next to him, he does OK, and he does bring organisational and motivational qualities to the side. It's when he tries to do a Gallagher diagonal pass or long ball up the touchline he runs into trouble.
  6. Erwin needs Skippy moaning at him for 90 minutes to bring out his A game.
  7. MJC predicts a loss every week against every mob. He became a parody of himself years ago and I'm surprised he still bothers making the effort.
  8. I think Turnbull would link up well with Long. Apart from Polworth, there aren't many players in our team good at anticipating his runs. Faddy was spot on that many pundits focus on Campbell's obvious tenacity and tend to overlook what a good footballer he is.
  9. To be fair, we had Faddy. I don't actually mind a biased pundit as long as there is full disclosure on what teams they support. It's when they insist they don't support a particular team it gets annoying.
  10. Despite Long's hat trick, I thought Campbell and Gallagher kept their form for the full 90. I don't vote for games I only watch on telly, but Campbell would have edged it for me. He drove a lot of our best play with his runs from deep, and had his usual quota of strong tackles.
  11. Sad to say that Tait still looks off the pace, and not the player he was last season.
  12. That's a decent shout. I always enjoyed a trip to Somerset Park.
  13. I expected Dundee to start the 1st half that way rather than 2nd half, but a decent showing and can't complain about a 3 - 0 cup win away from home against one of the better Championship teams. Hope Polworth's injury isn't too bad. It looked nasty in the replay.
  14. I don't think Gallagher has had to move any faster than a jog. He's strolled through the game again this evening.
  15. The new perfect hat trick - 1 massive deflection, 1 massively good finish, 1 massive goalkeeping error. Dundee are playing the same way this half as the season they were relegated. Some decent half chances without looking like scoring.
  16. Maybe because we have spent most of it defending (poorly) in our half - and Seedorf doesn't give him the service Hylton provides.
  17. Tait and Hartley both looking a bit rusty in defence.
  18. Perfect examples of what Polworth and Long are best at.
  19. Can Hartley stop trying to pass or shoot? Cheers.
  20. With Donnelly on the bench, I assume Campbell will drop a bit deeper instead. Almost time to get the bacon on for the rolls.
  21. I think that is a generous interpretation. The Record has inserted Rangers and Celtic in all its football articles as often as it can for as long as I can remember - and I remember reading it in the 70s. The OF has always been their target audience.
  22. Also, we did have games scheduled last season during the break, but for various reasons were called off leaving us high and dry. Dundee's game being cancelled last week has also levelled the playing field a bit more.
