The regulations say money has to be paid within 30 days or, I think, the registration is cancelled. I don't know if they wrote them with that mob in mind, but it should mean we see the money pretty quickly.

Aye, I don't consider McLair a product of our youth system - more in the Kipré type category where we gave him a leg-up when he was a bit older.
-
That's true. He struggled a bit in his first few seasons at Leicester , but arguably became the most successful youngster to come through our system.
-
Most footballers would struggle to find their local Nandos without a satnav, so I'd be surprised if Cadden was clued up on some attempted scam. An agent, maybe.

I'm not saying it can't be done (although McGinn had nearly 200 first team appearances under his belt before he moved south), just that it's very rare - and in the case of Motherwell youngsters, unheard of. Scott isn't consistent enough to get a regular start in our team right now and as Robinson pointed out, needs to learn how to use his size better (and score more goals). No doubt he has the potential, but that's as much as you can say. It's changed days when guys like Joe Jordan, Steve Nicol, Alan Hansen, Steve Clarke, Andy Gray, Pat Nevin etc. would move from Morton, Ayr Utd, Partick Thistle, St Mirren, Dundee Utd or Clyde to make a quick impact at top English clubs. Ian St John was probably the last one from Fir Park to do that!

My notice of the AGM just arrived today. See you all there!

Reports say backup, but you never know with these things. The one sure thing is that they are ditching their current backup, Roberto.

Darren Randolph moving back to West Ham for £4 million. In his original move from West Ham to Middlesbrough, he was sold for £5 million. Still slightly annoying that when he played for us nobody wanted to buy him.

Aye, Lee Erwin was who sprung to mind when I read the Bristol City story. There aren't many 'Well players who have left us as youngsters and gone on to bigger and better things (Turnbull is the only one I can think of that might break that mould when he goes). I understand the attraction of a quick payday - especially when you are that age - but it needs to be balanced against career development. Personally, I don't think Scott is ready for a move yet, but given he's under contract until May 2022, at least the ball is firmly in our court when it comes to transfer fees.

On a different note, no yellow card yet for Gorrin in the Oxford v Hartlepool FA Cup tie, while Fraser Kerr was booked just before half time.

It's only being exploited if they get away with it. Apart from the delay in payment, there is no suggestion that we won't end up receiving what we are due. 'Flow was quite adamant at the AGM that we will get paid - but because we have to go through the process (and due to the uniqueness of the situation), it might take a year or two. It's unfortunate we are having to set the precedent, but it's unlikely FIFA will want to open the floodgates to this kind of transfer finagling as it could hurt their wealthier members. If we do end up getting screwed I'll be the first to complain, but we're not at that stage yet. I also won't complain too loudly, as I can recall many players we have picked up using the rules to our advantage - Chris Porter being a prime example, thanks to the cross border rules at the time that meant we got him for free, and we sold him back down south for £400k. (Whereas Oldham would have received a wadge of cash if he signed directly for another English club).

From Robinson's comments, it sounds like he expects more from Sloth. From Sloth's comments, it sounds like he thinks he is doing enough to be getting a game. Seems like one of those situations where it's best for both parties if he moves on.

We haven't been shafted because we'll get a development fee for him (albeit later than is normally the case). Like I said about Turnbull, the main point of our academy is to develop players we could never afford to buy. We got over 100 first team games from Cadden, so it's not like a Hastie situation where he buggered off after a few good games. Freedom of Contract and the Bosman situation means that, inevitably, ourselves and all other clubs will sometimes lose players for free - or minimal fees - when they choose not to re-sign. That isn't the player's fault - but the whole Bosman debate is a much wider discussion. (And just wait and see what happens once the Brexit debacle is complete and freedom of movement for EU players disappears.) We have taken advantage of transfer rules to bring in loads of players for free over the years (and sold some of them on for a profit). So we can't complain too much when one leaves us at the end of their contract. Likewise, I'd be quite happy if Turnbull played for us for another 3 or 4 seasons and walked away after that. As a fan I get more value from watching our players play for us than I do from a sell-on fee between 2 English League One clubs.

A quote for the fans that think every player should be a hard tackling, back tracking, ball winning, dynamo.
-
You're just pissed off that you slagged off Higdon as fat and useless not long before he broke the goal scoring record and won player of the year.
-
I don't think we have been shafted, as such, we're just in the unfortunate position of being a test case that will take time to filter up the system to a final decision by FIFA arbitration. The MLS chose to participate in the compensation fee system prior to Cadden being signed by Columbus, so they will owe us money. The point of contention is "how much". I see Columbus finished 20th out of 24 teams this season, so he should feel quite at home there. Of course, there is still the very good chance that this is all just posturing and he'll be playing at Oxford for the remainder of the season.
-
Maybe where he sits has more legroom for his bad knee.
-
I think using Seedorf as the scapegoat is ignoring the garbage from every single player before and after he entered the game.
-
We stopped competing after 15 mins and fell away even more in the second half. Probably the poorest 45 mins from back to front I have seen from us since the Hearts cup tie.
-
Telt ye.
-
Accies long ball shitfest tactics succeed with a deflected equaliser. Motherwell players look like they have already headed to the airport.
-
Only other thing I could suggest is try clicking the Backup Player button on the bottom right of the page. After that I've run out of ideas.
-
Hearts avoid total self-destruction (despite their best efforts) and do us a favour by holding Aberdeen to a draw. EDIT: The old Texan beat me to it. I must have lost reaction time in the cold weather.

I thought Scott had a decent first half (and Hylton should have scored from the ball that he chased down and put on a plate for him). We lost the tempo a wee bit though, and need to step it up again to the same intensity we had in the first 20 mins. Otherwise Accies might do what Chelsea have just done to Arsenal.
