  1. Don't get me started on the present day trend of preferring full backs who can attack and cross a ball over full backs that can cover and tackle. It's rare you get a player like Joe Wark that is excellent at both, and I definitely prefer my full backs to make good defending their priority.
  2. Who should have played at left back on Saturday?
  3. Keep Turnbull and sell Polworth for £4 million. Sorted.
  4. Because he was asked to wait 2 minutes for an assessment on Hartley.
  5. Aberdeen score while we are down to 10 men with Hartley off for treatment with head injury. Maguire stepping back to centre half, and losing out to Cosgrove. (And we were a bit naive in keeping possession when we went to 10 men). Has all the hallmarks of "one of those games" already with a missed pen and short handed goal.
  6. First viewing thought it was a clear pen. Second viewing not sure. Bright start, though.
  7. Any success in any league is "relative". That's exactly how leagues work.
  8. I think we must injure more players during breaks that any other team in Scotland. Seems like after every international break we end up with more players out of action.
  9. We have a decent record against them in recent games, but they are usually quite tight affairs. Part of me thinks that if we keep our level of performance as high as the past few matches we should win this one. The other part of me thinks that there's no way Aberdeen can play as poorly again as they did against Hibs.
  10. And also his old Liverpool team mate that he brought to the club - Bobby Graham. Graham / Pettigrew is easily the best striking partnership I've had the pleasure to watch at Fir Park.
  11. He probably will as, sooner or later, I expect the last cup winning team to be voted in as a bloc.
  12. I'd vote for Joe, but these things are all age dependent. Ian St. John had moved to Liverpool before I started going to games, but he is another good shout. And about half the fans who are younger than me will be thinking Tommy Coyne or Faddy, no doubt.
  13. I swear FIFA would allow paid transfers between countries if they could get away with it.
  14. Clarke is such a big fan of Gallagher he's trying to get an English centre half to change nationality and play for Scotland.
  15. Then on Sunday, Robinson will meet with the Aberdeen board as a courtesy.
  16. The best thing about this game will be the enforced lack of patter about "Main coming back to haunt us".
  17. Even the good ones end up being sacked for failing later - McCall for example. That's not a Motherwell thing, more of a football thing where it's difficult to sustain any level of success over a number of seasons.
  18. The DUP blocked the deal.
  19. Most likely. He took a pretty heavy knock in the St Mirren game that led to his substitution, so either still injured or not being risked.
  20. It's rare we sell any player in January, never mind the good ones.
  21. Of all the issues that have plagued that club during their consecutive relegation years, I think Jack Ross is fairly low on the list.
  22. I don't disagree with that, but would add it depends on why they're not featuring right now. Gorrin was a good counter example that made an excellent (if short) contribution once he overcame his injury and fitness problems.
  23. I'm the opposite. I expect Turnbull will be first out the door (unless there are any players Robinson has decided won't make the grade and decides to shift). And if Turnbull does go, then there is no need to sell anyone else.
  24. I'm not so sure Dempster has much longer left at Hibs since the new owner took over. With relatively poor results on the field I suspect there might be a "new broom" approach by the end of the season. Especially as one the reasons Dempster joined was to recreate the fan ownership model in some form - a model that has bitten the dust under the new regime.
  25. To be fair, it was mostly McGhee that was touting McGhee for Celtic, Hearts and Scotland. Usually during Motherwell press conferences.
