  1. The Scottish Sports Media is largely run for the benefit of the OF readership, so no surprises here.
  2. It's rare for late call-ups to get a game unless there really is an injury crisis. In a double header, if things are going well in the second game, they might get some minutes at the tail end, but the state we are in these days we're usually fighting for a result even at that stage.
  3. Only if he's fit enough to contribute. Don't want another Ross McCormack debacle.
  4. I think he was playing it cool with his "of course I scored from there - that's what I do" reaction.
  5. Much the same here. Last couple of times I saw us play Livi, they were very much following the "70 yard punts up the park every time we get the ball" tactics, so Gallagher really didn't have a chance to play his football. Although he was dangerous at set pieces. So I was a bit surprised to see what a good footballer he was. He's in the same mould (although not quite as good as) Alan Hansen. A solid defender who is good with the ball at his feet and rarely wastes a pass. I'm imagine if it wasn't for his legal issues, his career might have taken a different trajectory and ended up playing at a higher level than us.
  6. We were a bit shot-shy today, although we have scored more goals than any Premiership team outside the OF so can't complain too much. The fact that there is still room for improvement can only be a good thing. (I also read earlier today that we have had twice as many shots at goal than Aberdeen have managed so far this season).
  7. Take the money for Turnbull and let Polworth light a big cigar with some £20 notes as he bosses the midfield.
  8. Polworth and Campbell both guilty of not pulling the trigger today on a couple of occasions, but thought Polworth was still the best player on the pitch.
  9. Aye, he was definitely limping a bit after he was clobbered in the second half.
  10. Another good 3 points. St Mirren (Haldky in particular) made it difficult, but kept a clean sheet and finally killed it off.
  11. That's one way to manage the game. 3 points put to bed.
  12. Aye, St Mirren obviously have nothing to lose and have been more attacking, but we have had our chances to finish it off. Back to game management now to try and make sure we pick up the 3 points.
  13. Ilic on for Cole (who's worked hard, but nothing coming off for him today). Hartley just had a great tackle on Andreu who had burst through the centre at the edge of the box.
  14. Game is a lot more open, but we've had 2 or 3 good chances to put the game away. Polworth and Campbell both had times when shooting would have been better than passing. Seedorf hit a great ball into the 6 yard box, but no striker to finish, and Polworth's effort well saved by Hladky.
  15. Hladky continuing to be St Mirren's man of the match with a great save from a Polworth curler. (And Maguire showing he has more football in him than Donnelly).
  16. St Mirren started the 2nd half in a much more attacking frame of mind, creating a couple of good chances. Polworth tricks Foley into a bookable tackle without touching the ball.
  17. That means I've scored as many goals as him this season, but I have less red cards.
  18. We also created a couple of great chances on the counter, directly from St Mirren corners. If St Mirren do push up for an equaliser, then I can see us scoring on the break.
  19. Been playing OK. Made a few decent chances and half chances, but St Mirren keeper has done well to snuff out 3 or 4 of them. A pretty dominant first half. Highlight has to be big Declan doing a bit of wing play, beating his man and driving to the line to create a good scoring chance. Maguire's looking comfortable in his new role, Seedorf has had some good runs, Campbell is as dynamic as ever and Polworth is being Polworth with some excellent distribution. Will be interesting to see if St Mirren, who were sitting in quite a bit, decide to be more expansive the second half or will continue to keep it tight.
  20. About now. A deserved goal from Scott, curling one in to the top right from the edge of the box.
  21. I'd expect the board and the manager to be having discussions about results, strategy and health of the club on a regular basis. That is completely different situation from being given an ultimatum to "change style or get sacked".
  22. Great book - and the man was also a bit of a character himself.
  23. A nervy 3 - 1 win after we go 2 - 0 up in the first half, let St Mirren back in it around the 63rd minute for 2 - 1, then dig in until the 87th minute when Hylton and Long combine for the 3rd after Campbell robs Magennis to set them up.
  24. It's always going to be a problem deciding which players enter first. I imagine the Ancell Babes and every player from both cup winning teams and the league winning team all deserve a place. And that's before you start picking through the greats that played in teams that never won anything (like Wullie P). I think Pettigrew is a great inductee, though. He is a legend and still works at the club, so the perfect candidate for launching the idea as far as PR, promotions etc.
