  1. So it's "Friday you're out, love".
  2. If Livi continue the form they showed in the second half of last season we have a good chance of winning this one. They racked up a number of points early with their unconventional style but slipped back down the table as teams worked them out. If they persist with the same approach, we should be ready to match it.
  3. You can use this link for the image. And this link for the most recent tweet.
  4. Sound advice for football shirts and for life.
  5. On the other hand, don't fall into the trap of judging teams on their Betfred/preseason games. There's plenty of time before the window closes for teams to stregthen their squads. While I'm optimistic, I don't expect anything than a battle to make top 6 - same as most seasons.

I think the 1935 is still my favourite hoop, collar, shorts combo.

Which is mostly accurate - except the new team is technically Clydebank. (I miss my trips out to the "first all seater stadium in the UK")
  8. As I said, I only saw us live in the league December - and we lost 6 of them, and lucky to draw the one we did. And while the cup games were certainly entertaining, it seemed like we didn't "earn the right to play football" in the league until the last game of the season against Accies when Turnbull, Bigi and Ciftci were let off their leashes. (It's quite possible, however, that my view of our league form was tainted by those abject performances I witnessed live and the brief youtube highlights each week).
  9. Of course not. Unless the new owner is happy to lose a few million to pursue a hobby - then it will work.
  10. I'm thinking the 2017/18 season when Accies destroyed us at Fir Park in December when Hartley sold 2 goals and was sent off after the game. Tanner scored the opener, Moult and Cadden were out injured and Campbell went off early. We played 7 games that month (I was at 2 of them) and managed 1 draw and 6 defeats. The cup runs were great, but the league football entertainment was dire - and Tanner was one of the few (or only) players we had that could beat men and pass a ball.
  11. I think he was our second top scorer (and number one for assists) when he got injured. Given our dire form - especially the first half of that season - that wasn't too shabby.

Although, to be fair, Airdrie did play fast and loose with their entire club given that they pulled an even slicker move than Sevco to pretend they are the same club now.
  13. The way Utd are splashing out the cash to buy promotion, he might even get more money there.
  14. Same here. I'll miss him on the commentary this season, but will be delighted if he gets back to his A-game.
  15. And keeping to the former players theme, he's playing against CFR Cluj - who crocked Brian McLean in the pre-season "friendly".
  16. My two rules of transfers. 1) Never believe what that manager says 2) Never believe the rumours in the media
  17. And Gary McAllister used to take pelters for not tackling like Ally Mauchlen. (And until our Cup winning season, Steve Kirk took pelters many weeks for playing like Steve Kirk) .
  18. If someone at Fir Park had trademarked the phrase "All Premiership tie" we wouldn't have needed to sell Turnbull.

It was certainly more yellow than amber (and the fashion of shiny material didn't help) but I don't think the colour was that much different from the 76 - 78 Admiral effort.
  20. He had a decent long range shot tipped over the bar. Then missed an absolute sitter from about 6 yards. The goal he scored was well taken, but keeper made a pigs ear of saving it and let it sneak in at his near post.

Sorry to hear that. But you're right, it just goes to show how much bigger the impact of football can be than 90 minutes on a Saturday afternoon.
  22. I think he's going to have a decent season in that league. He offers exactly what Dundee have been lacking the last season or two.

I had such a good time following the team in that Adidas kit - the length and breadth of the country, to lots of old grounds that don't exist any more - it will always be my favourite. It was at times, one of the worst teams I've seen, but the build-up to the games at school all week and then meeting up with my mates on the terrace on a Saturday for terrible banter was what we lived for. Couldn't beat it for entertainment value.
  24. I wouldn't be surprised if Celtic already have an arrangement where they will sign Turbull once he is back to fitness. In which case, signing a new contract isn't really an option.
