  1. If we had a new owner that wrote us a blank cheque to pay off our debt and invest in the club, and we had as many paying fans as Hibs, we might be able to afford that too. I suspect, however, it's a sop thrown to the fans who were led down the community ownership path.
  2. Seedorf seemed quite chuffed about that in his post-match interview. He was buzzing (to use Twitter's favourite expression) about scoring his first professional goal and having the fans chant his name. A great recruitment ad for the club.
  3. To be fair, the club (and the Trust) already does a fair amount of promotion of mens' mental health and suicide prevention. It would be nice to be in a position where we could turn down a chunk of money for sponsorship, but we aren't a Hearts (or a Barcelona) and don't have that luxury. (I also have doubts about the effectiveness of shirt sponsorship, but that's a different debate - I can safely say, however, I have never used any of the products or services of any of our shirt sponsors ever). There's certainly a discussion to be had about beer or gambling sponsors, but that is a wider social issue. I'm a believer that education and awareness is always much more effective than banning things.
  4. A couple of days ago Robinson said they had tried to get Gboly back, but he didn't want to return - preferring to pursue options elsewhere.
  5. I'm certainly not disagreeing. I have barely seen him play live or on highlights, and when I have seen him play it's been mostly as a defender. It just seemed last season that Robinson was forever bigging him up, so I assumed he would be one of his projects this season.
  6. Onthefringes is not a Donnelly fan. At the end if last season, when I suggested we'd see more of him this campaign, he reckoned I was well off the mark. I honestly have no idea if he will make the grade, as my comments were based on the fact that Robinson obviously rates him. There are always different players fans don't rate. I could never see why Foran got a game, for example, but was a fan of Vigurs. I know many fans hold the exact opposite view. All part of the fun - especially at this stage of the season.
  7. Robinson says he's fine, but will probably miss the Morton game.
  8. It's still preseason. We won. Trying to read anything deeper into the performance is premature and pointless.
  9. Wonder if they'll make him play at left back like they did with Marvin.
  10. And Hylton with a screamer to make it 3 at the death.
  11. Looking good. Donnelly from the spot after Hylton brought down.
  12. I agree they could come up with a better model, but I suspect if they gave it free to all society members and season ticket holders there would be nobody left that would pay for it. Would be interesting to hear how the costs breakdown to see how they could be managed.
  13. There's live audio coverage - but you're not missing much if you don't listen. Sounds exactly the kind of game you expect at this stage of the season.
  14. At this stage of the pre-season, a combination of who's fit, who's showing early form, who's not carrying niggles and who isn't being risked on plastic. (Remember when Queen of the South had one of the best grass surfaces in the country?) Audio only today on MFC TV. Just the Morton game that will be video streamed.
  15. Kicking off the streaming with the Betfred Cup this season. We get the Morton game as a video stream, and the remainder as audio (presumably because BT Sport are covering the Morton game)
  16. Espeically after he was bigging him up for being Croatian earlier in the thread.
  17. Is that the one on Twitter? On there he says "We are very close to being done. We still have a little bit left if something came up that suited us, perhaps in the forward area"
  18. I think that's what every coach and manager has been telling him throughout his career. A classic example of how talent only takes you so far. You still need to apply yourself. A young Brian Kerr. If he does finally wake up to the notion, he's certainly young enough to succeed.
  19. Given our dearth of left backs in recent years, I'd be delighted if we had 3 to chose from. In reality, we'll have to make do with two and one will always be injured.
  20. Aye, as focused as we are on young talent, some players develop later - just as some early bloomers don't always make the grade. If the club thinks he is a keeper, then they must see some potential there as we aren't slow to offload youngsters if we doubt they'll cut it in the first team.
  21. That's strange. I can see how the salary cap/roster rules in the MLS might prevent Cadden from playing for them this season, but next season will kick off around March. Hope he gets a week off in between.
  22. I liked Csaba. He did win Manager of the Year award from the SPL and the Football Writers when he was Hearts, so not all that bad.
  23. Columbus currently the second worst team in the MLS. I guess Cadden is going out on loan due to salary caps or something, ready for playing next season. Columbus have 14 games left to play in this season. More, in the unlikely event they make the play-offs.
  24. Just to confirm, I emailed Craig Hughes today and here is his reply: So looks like we are in good shape.
