How long before he gets his Martian orders? (one for the Bugs Bunny fans)
-
No idea - that info was from a poster a few weeks ago who sounded like they knew what they were talking about.

That plus the payments we get for Kelly and Theo being on international duty is a nice windfall and shows, yet again, that developing players doesn't just mean from the academy. We have a number of examples now where older players (both on-loan and MFC) have gained international recognition during their spells with us.
-
Yes, according their home page. Although sometimes that changes nearer the day.
-
That's a long way of saying fans would be bothered, because if we could afford anything at all, there's no way we could afford anything other than a generic "lego" stand The new stadiums I've been at often have the same issues with leg room. I think every seating designer must clothes shop in the childrens department.

Sounds like we need a big Hollywood investor to inject some cash.

I'm sure SK will have been planning for that knowing that it was a near certainty Bair would be moving on. Strikers are always a gamble though. As well as being confidence players, they need to fit in to the system. SK has done well managing that with Bair and van Veen, so hopefully the new intake of strikers will have similar success (or at least one of them does).
-
SK has already said he's planning to bring in 2 or 3 more players. Zero chance, however, we spend an extra million on new faces.
-
You'd hope so. Yet every transfer window we hear the absolute judgements in every player who is "shite", " too slow", "can't pass", " can"t tackle", "can't shoot", " wage thief" etc. Same as the absolute judgements that are tossed out during the League Cup groups when new players are playing together competively for the first time. Maybe, having seen so many examples of players developing at Fir Park, fans would sit back and enjoy watching players evolve. It's certainly a big part of the experience for me. However, if fans are happy to cast instant judgement on players saying how terrible they are, I don't think it's unfair for others to point out how wrong they were.

Theo comes on in the 77th minute for what looked like might be a famous win, but now we go to pens. (Canda closing out a game using Motherwell tactics and conceding the equaliser in the 92nd minute).
-
So 1.1 million was the Bair minimum?
-
You mean being the 3rd highest scorers in the league? I'd settle for that again.
-
In this modern age when full backs aren't full backs and centre forwards aren't centre forwards, Paton and Wells will be "attacking-supporting-defensive-wingback-strikers"
-
Looking forward to hearing who's up next based on that list of affordable 20 goals a season strikers you secretly maintain.

I agree, and I think the problem there is that the rules haven't kept up with the technology in a few instances. Offside was originally introduced to stop a team having a player camped in the opposition penalty box and launching balls at them all day. It evolved into what we have now, but in pre-VAR days there was obviously much more leeway and arguments were not about fractions of a millimetre. Same with the handball laws. They were designed to eliminate the need for refs to establish intent, but instead have made things 100 times worse. And that's only amplified by the VAR reviews for "handballs" that nobody even noticed or questioned. If they are insistent on keeping VAR, I'd be in favour of changing offside to mean a player has to be completely in front of the last man. Of course there still might be arguments about only being 1cm behind, but it would give a lot more leeway. If they don't change the handball rule, then I like the idea of having different levels of infringement in the penalty box. I know there are indirect free kicks sometimes, but they are few and far between. It seems crazy that a player saving a shot on the goal line gives up the same penalty as a defender on the edge of the box, back to goal when the ball traveling out of the box hits him on the back of the arm. Of course, I'd much prefer scrapping VAR. The only excuse I have heard now for keeping it is "players without it will struggle when the play international or European games". No mention of improving the quality of the game for the players or more importantly, the spectators. That pretty much says it all.

If we keep Bair, I'm not sure we need another forward. I'm never opposed to signing a creative mid for any team, but I can guarantee that if we do they will be labelled as slow and useless in the tackle by half the fans.

I agree with SK on this one. The authorities claimed it wouldn't change the way players played the game, and that VAR wouldn't start refereeing games. Both claims have proved to be false. The worst thing for me is it just takes away from the spontaneity of the game - especially when you score and have to wait 2 minutes for a goal to be confirmed. When you watch leagues with no VAR, even the most controversial flashpoints are over in a few seconds and the players and fans quickly refocus on the game. And everybody just gets back on with it. VAR is the exact opposite where every incident big and small is tainted by the check and the long wait.

He's one of those players that needs games I think. Was unlucky, with the change of manager who suddenly didn't fancy him for whatever reason. That happens at every club of course - different tactics, different styles, different preferences. If he wants to stay down south I imagine he should be able to find another club relatively easily.

Confirmed it's on MFC TV.

Did Lennon Miller get sold already?
-
A Rangers man supporting England? (Lee Dixon said it was never a pen)
-
Today Rangers. Tomorrow the world (via Rotherham, Partick Thistle, Linfield, Hartlepool, Hamilton and Ayr). Or maybe that just applies to Jake Hastie. Miller strikes me as someone who, like Max Johnston, would do better for himself with a move to a European club.

It definitely needs that, and it also needs belief in the new methods. During their adoption, France famously failed to qualify for the '94 World Cup finals when they lost their last game 2 -1 against Bulgaria (conceding in the 90th minute, when a draw would have seen them through). Instead of panicking, the French FA stuck to their 10 year plan and ended up winning the World Cup in '98 and the Euros in 2000.
-
Been saying that for years. There are good examples to follow - France being a great one. They managed to reform their setup from a debacle to Euro and World Cup winning teams. We won't have that level of success, but their approach would definitely makes things much better. Bonhof had some good ideas when he was U-21 coach that were completely ignored too.
