  1. Trev played in the Darlington game. I think he took some time off to be with his wife when they were in Ireland, but don't think she was due at that point. Oh, and Frear - top man.
  2. Looks like were stuck with intermittent tweets.
  3. Still, at least the other 12 players put on a top performance that game.
  4. Did he not score the winner the last time we played them? I seem to remember most of the starters having a stroll until Edinburgh opened the scoring.
  5. Just because he was mince with us, doesn't mean he can't do better elsewhere. I'm sure he was a cheap option for Falkirk, so not a big risk for them and he could be their next Bob McHugh.
  6. I know it's frustrating when new websites don't work, but I'd encourage anyone that has problems to first of all report it to the club, and secondly have a wee bit of patience. All the testing in the world doesn't prevent unexpected issues from popping up after you go live - and our club doesn't have the resource to spend on "all the testing in the world".
  7. That's true - but for the first few years, "successful" isn't a term that could be associated with most of our players.
  8. I mentioned Tommy earlier in the thread, and that's exactly right. It took 6 years or so for him to build from "park the bus" to "win the cup". Mind you, I don't know how we find a Bobby Russell / Davie Cooper kind of player these days to move us forward.
  9. Very true. When I saw Johnson's "can't miss from 2 feet" goal in his first game, I wondered what kind of player Fisher might have been for us if he'd scored from the same kind of chance in his first game. In the end, the pressure of not getting that goal pretty much finished his short Motherwell career.
  10. We don't have the personnel to make use of other kinds of strikers, so were stuck with having backups that are like-for-like. I can see how it makes sense strategically. Ciftci had his best game (and last) game when we stuck some ball players on the park to support him. That was far too close to creative football to be allowed again
  11. As I said, I'm not overly enthusiastic about him. However, just about every goal I see Sammon scoring on youtube involves him being played in from a pass on the deck. If the the idea is to play hoofball and use him has a target man, then I doubt it will work.
  12. Took Tommy McLean about 6 years to move from being a bunch of (mostly useless) defensive cloggers to a "silky" team. Have no idea if Robinson would be even capable of that, but wasn't expecting to see it appear this season.
  13. Some great pre-season form from Milo
  14. I'm not pretending I'd be a huge fan of signing Sammon, but to put him on a par with Bowman is ridiculous. Sammon has English Premier League, Championship and International experience. We're the highest level Bowman has ever reached.
  15. Only reason I didn't mention Donnelly is Robinson said the players that came from the English leagues were behind in their fitness (because they hadn't played for about 10 weeks).
  16. Depending on fitness levels, a back 3 of Tait, McGuire and Dunne might do the job.
  17. As far as the prize money is concerned, we definitely voted in favour of the change - even though we were in our phase of finishing best of the rest. I recall the club making a statement along the lines of it was likely to benefit us in the long term even if we took at hit when we finished 2nd.
  18. Looking at their website, I'm guessing it's basically a clickbait site trying to earn affiliate cash by referring punters to join Bet355.
  19. Looking at the Historical Kits website, the 5th Kings Own Scottish Borderers played in this kit from 1912-15, and they were one of the 2 teams that merged to form Queen of the South in 1919. So 2019 will the centenary of the club being formed and this, presumably, is a nod to that history. Here's the pic of their 1912 kit from that site.
  20. "Hoped" to have it completed by the end of the week. Nothing against Robinson, but I don't remember many of his signing deadline predictions being on the money.
  21. Don't forget Aberdeen put the dampers on various other initiatives over the years because they saw themsevles as the 2nd Force.
  22. I miss the Jim Gannon days when he'd say we're bringing in a keeper and another midfielder on Friday and on Friday we'd announce the new keeper and midfielder. He might have been a borderline sociopath, but he could sign a player.
  23. Need to remember that these days, games like this aren't like friendlies in the old days (of a couple of years ago) that came at the end of pre-season training. And they were bad enough to watch. There's a lot of double sessions and running at this point of the programme. Speed work and sharpness activities tend to come after that. Much like last season, we won't know much about how we're shaping up until the league kicks off.
  24. Until we lose Campbell, Cadden and Frear at he same time, like we did last season, and then it might be just enough.
  25. To be fair, given the massive number of new faces we brought in last year, the fact that we ended up with so few duffers (like Petravicius) is a testament to our signing policy. Even the top clubs do well to have a 40 or 50% success rate and ours must have been much higher than that. (Almost Gannon levels...)
