  1. Another one that would fit the mould of "wanting to prove himself". Be delighted if we pull that one off.
  2. Looks like they have updated their website, so English is now an option. Still looks shady, though.
  3. Going out on loan isn't necessarily the end of the road for the youngsters. It's an opportunity to prove themselves in a competitive environment. Guys like Cadden and Erwin benefited from it. Guys like Thomas, not so much. Taylor-Sinclair seems to fall into the "been out injured, point to prove" approach, so look forward to seeing what he offers.
  4. And Jamie Murphy's on 7 (eclipsing Stevie Kirk's long standing record of 6).
  5. Given that Robinson has said on multiple occasions he felt our lack of depth cost us 6th place when had all our injuries at the end of last year, I imagine having better players as backups is exactly the plan.
  6. Or maybe a Mike Grella situation
  7. To be fair, Rose might be an attacking midfielder. Cadden was until he was "promoted" to wing back. Likewise, Frear arrived as an out and out winger.
  8. I don't care who they are. If they can put their foot on the ball and pick out a pass that works for me. I had no idea who Nicky Law was, and he worked out OK.
  9. Given the comments from Robinson and Craigan after he left (saying he downed tools and calling him unprofessional on national TV), either there's no chance, or he is grovelling on his knees all the way up to Fir Park.
  10. Alternatively, it might be "good news Bigi, we're going to play football through the middle this season instead of making you watch the ball fly over your head". Unlikely, I know, but Bowman getting a new contract was unlikely at the start of last season.
  11. And another striker and another winger a possibility.
  12. I vaguely recall 'Flow saying it wouldn't be ready in time for the start of the new season, but I might just have made that up.
  13. If it was like the 750k Accies got, I'd take it in a heartbeat. Only need it for a season or two to help clear our debt and then decide after that if we'd want to renew the deal.
  14. Always a risk when someone steps up a league or two. From the highlights posted on Twitter, half his goals shown were scored by shooting straight at a dodgy keepers who then let them squirm underneath. That's not his fault of course - look forward to seeing what he can offer. Will take a little while for him to adjust, I expect, so anticipate the usual dismissive comments on here after his first few appearances.
  15. That was a different regulation, I think. The FAI has a detailed breakdown of how it works on their web page here and it seems to apply in Cadden's case. (At least I think it's these rules that apply here).
  16. Depending on the league status of potential suitors (which factors into the development fee calculation) I think the club said Cadden would be worth around 600k if he left at the end of the contract - which is why Hearts offering less than that was derisory. So I think this is a fairly unique case regarding offers and a situation where letting him see out his contract isn't a terrible approach.
  17. Absolutely. I wasn't complaining about our hit rate when it comes to strikers. Just pointing out that it's all very well saying stay away from guys like Cifcti and bring in someone "better" - except "better' is not that easy to find.
  18. Sutton scored 12 in his last season with us (which was decent). Since Sutton left, Moult was obviously brilliant. Main has been solid, then there's been a huge drop off. I haven't written off Newell, but so far he seems to be one of those guys that is always injured.
  19. Our recruitment of strikers recently has been a bit hit and miss compared with other positions. Blyth/Fletcher/Newall/Petravičius/Fisher (and for some, Bowman) haven't covered themselves in glory.
  20. I think you've confused him with Scott McDonald.
  21. Aye, let's persevere with Newall and hope we get another Demi.
  22. This - plus just about any time a Scottish striker is mentioned as a possible target, there are 20 posts on here telling us how shite he is.
  23. I'm late to the game here, I know, but I was just watching the video about the pitch work this close season and discovered they are taking away the stone wall for safety reasons. Makes sense, of course - especially on a pitch as close to the stands as ours - but it will be a shame to see them go.
