Scottish Premiership Game 31 :Rangers (H) 31/03/18 12:30
weeyin replied to Yabba's Turd's topic in Club Chat
I suspect that given Robinson's approach, players are being frozen out because, unlike Main, they don't live like a professional footballer. You can't have it both ways. I'd have been happy with 2 draws in the last 2 OF games beforehand, but a little frustrated we didn't win one of them. If nothing else it shows we have nothing to fear if we make it to the Cup Final. -

Excellent first half - only minor complaint is I'd like to have seen a 3rd goal that our chances merited. And I don't say that very often in a Rangers game. -

If by bounce match you mean European Championship Qualifier, then yes. -

This, plus ending the game with the same number of players we start with. -
Scottish Cup Final v Celtic (Hampden) 19/05/18 15:00

Playing at Tynecastle would give Aberdeen an advantage as their ploughed field of a pitch is about as bad as the Hearts pitch. -

All the people in this thread who have stated a preference for playing at Tynecastle or Easter Road over Hampden (because of lack of atmosphere). There's been a few if you care to browse at your leisure. I think the big pitch at Hampden gives us an advantage with our fitness. We can worry about filling it in the final. -

It's amazing how quickly this place turns from "Our cup record in recent years has been appalling" to "I don't want to play at Hampden again". -
That's an interesting question. When he moved to France, Sky Sports reported this:
-
Given they recently posted a £1 million loss (and a £1.5 million loss the previous year) and the fact they made £2.2 million reduction in costs, I'm not sure they have much money to spare. Although I suppose it's possible they see spending a few extra quid as a calculated risk. Their 2 years' worth of relegation parachute payments will be drying up too, so that will put another hole in their budget if they fail to get promoted. And from what I have seen of them this season, they don't look good enough to make the play-off final.

You used to be able to appeal yellow cards too. The reason they scrapped that is because the clubs abused the process. That's why we ended up with this process now (and also why we can't have nice things). -
Funnily enough, I was just reading the article on Stuart McCall in The Scotsman today. He talks about Walter Smith threatening not to renew his contract if he played a Scotland game after picking up a dead leg playing for Rangers. (He played anyway). It's an interesting article. I had forgotten the story about McCall being included in the England U21 team as a sub, then wasting time in the last few minutes so he could't get on the pitch - because he changed his mind and wanted to play for Scotland.
-
Guaranteed to get his debut as soon as he joined one of the ugly sisters - it's an SFA rule. Cracking result too. Let the good times roll.
-
Unprecedented scenes, according to Twitter. Will be interesting to hear the full story.
-
Hit the woodwork twice, down to ten men after a pen, equalized short handed, then Killie pull ahead with minutes to go. Sounds like that lucky charm works at the U20 level too.
-
He's easily a Championship level player. Just because he chose a team where he'd be second choice in a "one up front" formation doesn't mean he's suddenly become a bad player. Strikers especially, need a run of games to get match sharp and he started off injured and needing game time. All the Rangers chat is pointless, as I'm convinced now as I was when Murty signed his short term deal that they will have a new boss (with new ideas about new players he wants) by the end of the season.

Could have been worse. Kirpe might just have been booked, then Celtic beat us with a goal in the last 5 minutes. Regarding the standard of refereeing, I agree it needs to improve, but not sure how you go about that - at least in the short term. There's only a small pool available, so they are all "guaranteed a place in the starting 11" as it were, and can't easily be replaced. It's not like there's a dozen better refs sitting on the bench waiting for their chance. -
If Celtic really had wanted him, they'd have signed him; they're not exactly short of cash. He was only going to be a short term backup at best (assuming Gordon gets himself fit). He'll be much better served going to a team where he's wanted as a regular starter.

Or maybe the club are aware of the reason give for the red card and it's nothing to do with what Kipre is saying. -
We extended him until the summer of 2019.

I don't think Thomson has to clearly demonstrate anything. I think, a bit like VAR, the panel has to decide there is clear evidence his decision was wrong - which is a slightly higher bar. I reckon our chances of success are about 50/50. As for all the "what about Scott Brown?" chat - when our manager says he didn't think it was worthy of a card, it's unlikely the SFA cares about it. -

Problem with appeals is that you have to prove that the referee's decision was definitely incorrect. And often that requires the ref to review the incident and agree he got it wrong. If there is any room for an interpretation that favours the ref, the appeal will fail - and the panel will always be looking to back the ref if they can. -

They're accountable in as much as they can be dropped down to lower league games. The problem is that unless there are better refs to replace them, we end up with even worse. It's not like there are world class officials waiting in the wings, being blocked by the SFA. -
He didn't play in the Development Squad match last week either.
