  1. Sounds like Stokes will be following the Derek Riordan career path now.
  2. I'm with GazzyB on this one. 10 points from our 5 league games in Feb would be a decent return, plus a cup win. This one should certainly be winnable, but I don't put it in the "must win" category yet. 3 - 1, with Ciftci getting off the mark.
  3. You'd rather he started players that were injured or unfit? Sound.
  4. Hartley has some sort of foot injury that apparently needs to be managed for the rest of the season.
  5. It sound like one of those complicated NBA deals with players moving in all directions Good news for us though.
  6. We bought a top keeper for 10k. The sell-ons are irrelevant. The highly unusual situation we are in now was not planned for by ourselves or Celtic, so all normal negotiations are off the table. If a bid comes in for Carson over the summer, then it's back to business as usual i.e. if the bidder meets the price and we can replace him, then off he goes.
  7. The noises Robinson was making yesterday, it sounded like he was working on a striker too.
  8. We signed Randolph on a free transfer with a 3 year contract. Ruddy was a loan.
  9. Given the fee we received for Randolph (hee haw), a sell on for Carson was a smart move to get a sweet deal. We either get 3 years from a top keeper for 10k, or make a small profit from a transfer. Like Moult before him, even if he runs out his contract, it was still a good signing.
  10. Celtic could easily afford our asking price if they really wanted Carson. The reality is, I suspect, Gordon will be first choice as soon as he's fit so they want a cheap option until the end of the season. In fact, it's not even clear if whoever they sign will be a starter or the back up. Either way, we hold all the cards given the contract situation and the fact we have no need to sell.
  11. Scott Bain is allegedly their new target.
  12. Ah, I didn't notice he was so young.
  13. Wiki says he signed a pre-contract with West Ham in Jan and left in the summer. Does that not mean he was a freebie?
  14. You start to wonder. I thought the move to Killie might have helped him see the light, but he still doesn't seem to have adjusted his attitude.
  15. I could well be wrong, but I still have the suspicion Murty and all his loan signings will be gone during the summer.
  16. As much as I hate to be fair to Brendan, he's not in charge of the money offered. That would be his boss' doing.
  17. They are paying in installments over the next 3 years. More fool Accies, as nobody else in Scotland would trust that mob to meet their financial commitments.
  18. Unless they have a stellar replacement to bring in, of course. Although as Robinson pointed out, playing matches on tomorrow evening makes dealing even more difficult.
  19. How it would work in practice is a great question, and one I don't have the answer to right now. As I recall, though, it was one of the commitments that was made by the Society that "unusual" transfer decisions would require agreement from members (while "normal" business was left up to the Board).
  20. While I'm generally in favour of the Board handling the transfer decisions, given our financial standing and the deals already executed this season, this is the kind of decision that should require backing by the Well Society membership. Given the time constraints involved, in reality, that means "no deal".
  21. That covers the 2 league positions addon. Now let's discuss the base transfer fee.
  22. Pretty much this. It's a very unusual situation given the timing of Gordon's injury, the imminent closing of the transfer window and Carson's length of contract. Whatever we valued him at the start of the window should now have a 50% premium added to it + the value of how many league places we think he'll earn us this season. EDIT: How's Rohan Ferguson shaping up? Too early to take a chance? He's certainly had a lot of first team games, albeit in a lower league.
  23. TBF, transfer discussions often don't involve managers talking to each other; it usually happens at the boardroom level. Robinson, for example, said he never spoke to Brendan about the Ciftci move.
  24. I don't know why teams bother with the low ball offers. If there was any chance of us lining up an equivalent replacement, Celtic should make an offer for him and leave Carson where he is.
