  1. That's not the same as the "Head Researcher of the Netherlands" asking random twitter users if a player "can make the step up?"
  2. He sounds a great scout if needs random responses on Twitter to decide on a player's ability.
  3. They're professional scouts. While I'm sure they are checking out Cadden, they should be casting an eye over every player on the pitch. And even if they fancy Cadden, it doesn't mean he'll be gone this window. We had to wait for guys like Frear and Petravičius, after following them for a few windows.
  4. Permanently it seems, but not enough to stop him playing. There was a recent article in the Evening Times where he said he is playing through pain in most games these days.
  5. Because the development fees that would be due price us out the market. That's why Cadden is worth 600k even if he lets his contract run down. The inevitable consequence is most of the young talent that comes through the ranks will move to clubs outside of Scotland.
  6. Forthbank is going to be the U20s home this season according the the club because it has an "excellent grass pitch". They are also using it instead of Fir Park for any Irn Bru Cup home ties because of all the games that are scheduled for Fir Park early season and the groundsman asked for some help to protect the pitch.
  7. Celtic doing their best at the moment to make the whole Group Stage payment discussion irrelevant.
  8. That ship sailed when we rubber stamped the SPFL structure.
  9. I think we're striking a decent balance with long and short term deals. Gives us a chance to assess some of the unknowns, and doesn't shut the door on U20s getting their shot at the first team.
  10. I agree if Cadden was to go it should be for a high figure. Don't look at Dundee Utd, however, for any of the fees they received. They were part of a strategy that saw them over pay many players on very long contracts. Horrible business model that saw them relegated, lose all their good players, and still rack up big financial losses after the big fees were received.
  11. The only thing strange about the CEO of a Scottish club supporting other Scottish teams in Europe is that people find it weird. The more Scottish teams that are successful in Europe the better, for all sorts of reasons. It brings more money into the game, it improves our seedings, it raises the profile of our game and helps attracts a better class of player to the SPFL. Nothing is going to make the OF fans less obnoxious, but nobody forces you to listen to them or take them seriously.
  12. Griffiths is the backup keeper. No reflection on Griffiths or his performance, but there's no reason Carson shouldn't start the next game. That seems to be the way the goalkeeping hierarchy operates. Nice to have two good keepers, though.
  13. Do sell-ons count as transfer income (for the purpose of paying off our loans)? I remember someone from the Board answering that question, but I don't remember what that answer is. If they do, I think that leaves us with about 40%.
  14. It can definitely happen. Seems that the devil is in both in the detail of the individual contract, and in the detail of the laws of the country in question. Then there was the whole Richie Brittain pre-contract battle between St. Johnstone and Ross County.
  15. I think I mentioned this when his name was being touted around the last time, but between his last time at St Johnstone and his time at Rangers he played 100 games and only scored 15 goals. He's obviously got off to a better start this time, and will be interesting to see if his scoring streak continues.
  16. This. Plus it's still early days with new players and regardless of what they do or don't do during training, trying a tactic in a competitive game is the only way to find out if it actually works. And even if it does work, opponents have this nasty habit of playing well and/or changing things to counteract successful tactics. If he's still making similar mistakes in February, that would be a concern.

    Lego Fir Park

Looks great. Still not a fan of plastic pitches, though.
  18. Presumably, Robinson was trying to set up a team to compensate the lack of Frear and McHugh. It also sounded from his post-match that there were a few out there today that were not 100%. Credit, again, to him for changing when he saw it wasn't working. And not just for changing it, but succesfully.
  19. Sounds like we need a legit left winger/wingback as a backup for Frear.
  20. Yep. 3 points was (almost) essential today. Job done.
