I'd bite your hand off for a scrappy 1 - 0 win to get us up and running.
-
Hastie on loan is a good move. He as been impressive in the 20s recently and some regular first team action would be ideal.
-
True. In which case I hope Tanner is fit.
-
If he's fit, Moult should start. Like Skippy before him, I have no concerns that he won't give it 100%. More importantly, we need goals and 3 points.
-
From that perspective, I'm sure you're right. However, from what the Club and Moult have been saying, it sounds like the plan was always to sell him this season. Which makes sense as having a year left on a contract obviously bumps up the price. I think all parties would prefer Moult to move on now for a decent fee, but we can't make clubs buy him. What's more interesting is Robinson saying he has been speaking to a couple of targets and hopes to have new sigings in 3 or 4 days. And with a massive reading between the lines, the language he was using to describe's Moult's situation sounded exactly like the language clubs use while they are negotiating a transfer with another club. I have a sneaking suspicion (based entirely on that language) there may be a deal in progress.
-
That's one interpretation. Another interpretation is that we'd rather keep them for another year than sell them off cheap.
-
That's what I was thinking. I'd like to get 500k for him, but if all we get after moving him on and paying our cut to Les and JB is even 50k profit, it was still a great signing.
-
I don't think anybody knows for sure the new investors aren't charging interest too - that's the problem with these secret deals. All that was said at the time was that the deal was 'more favourable.'
-
That still won't stop people posting on here claiming they know the exact details of a deal.
-
It's somewhat similar, but as you say, on much friendlier and more transparent terms, and without the crippling debt. And we didn't need a fire sale. And we own the club. Which is nice.
-
That's right. The model everybody kept saying we should follow was: Borrow money to pump into the club to pay for extra long contracts at above market rate salaries Restructure your debt with investor "fans" that offer better terms Sell off what valuable players you have Pay back the "fans" big chunks of transfer fees as interest Get relegated Post another loss for the year.

2 well worked goals, and Hastie lookng good again.
-
If nothing else, I think recent events in Dundee proved that Utd's much vaunted youth development model wasn't exactly sustainable or profitable.
-
Cracking result for what is, this season, a younger team. From Twitter, it sounded like a great second half performance.
-
Another reason it was important to stay up for this season.
-
Robinson said Cadden would net us 600k or more if he walked at the end of his contract. Anybody wants him mid contract will need to offer more than that. While it's great for us, of course, it's fees like this that make it close to impossible for us to sign Scottish players over the age of 16 or 17.

Auto-correct leaks more secrets than Trump's White House.

I have no problem with players wanting the best deals they can get for themselves. I do have less sympathy, however, with players who negotiate a 2 or 3 year contract and then hand in transfer requests as if the contract didn't exist. Contracts work both way and you can imagine what Marvin would be saying if Oxford had turned around and said "actually, we've decided we don't want to pay you this season". Cake-and-eat-it Syndrome. Bottom line, however, is I hope he leaves for 4 million.

Scottish Premiership Game 2: St Johnstone (A) Saturday 12/08/17

"Played decently against Rangers. Deserved a point!!" "We're on a cup run. Great performance with 10 men!!" "This is our worst performance for years!!" Two league games into the season with 9 new players, our star striker unfit and key players out injured - playing against a team that's been top 6 for the last few seasons. So it's time for the, oh so predictable, meltdown. The more I read on here, the more I think social media has turned reasonable people into bipolar extremists fueled by a massive sense of entitlement and unrealistic expectations. No place for reasoned argument, nuance or perspective. I'll leave the mouth foamers to it, while I put my feet up and enjoy the sunshine with a beer. See you all next time. Or maybe not. -

Or maybe a more conventional 4-4-2. Nice to have options, though, so we can rest our injured players. -

That's what I'll likely end up doing. While it's easy enough to avoid the result beforehand, it's the willpower that I sometimes lack. -
Jay posted about the distillery trip on the 25th July. I'm pretty sure the initial twitter announcement was made around that same date as I remember hearing about it before I read Jay's post. Hope everyone enjoys the drams and the game.

Recording of the full game being broadcast by Alba shortly after the match is finished. I'm in two minds as to whether I should avoid the result and watch it fresh, or know what I'm letting myself in for. Maybe I'll split the difference and only check the half time score. -
Extra kudos for that given he had two midfielders and Zak Jules to work with.

He's done what he said he would do as far as refreshing the squad, and so far has them playing the way he says he likes to play. Early days yet, but high marks so far. A point or three tomorrow will go a long way to getting our league campaign kick started.
