  1. So I think that puts the "use it as pre-season to give some fringe players a run out" vs "put out the first team to win the game early" debate firmly to bed.
  2. Still waiting for him to finish that run from midfield he started in March.
  3. Interesting to see Newall on the bench. Wonder if it's just so he can meet his new team mates.
  4. Just wait until the next Killie game when all the "back to haunt us" delusions start being spouted.
  5. I'd be delighted with a cup draw against a championship side that couldn't beat Accies.
  6. Or the bottom six teams wanted a player that would be fit for the season starting rather than in October.
  7. It was 99% certain he'd end up at a Scottish club. I doubt he wants to give up his media work.
  8. Like Moore and McHugh, he may have found his level scoring against lower league opposition. Like Thomas, Moore and McHugh were top performers for the U20s, but failed to impress in the first team. The real test for Thomas will be when he is playing against better teams. Regardless, he didn't want to play for us, so no point in keeping him. And if he thrives at Killie we have a tasty sell-on fee coming our way.
  9. Maybe we just signed him because he looked useless, couldn't get a game and we had some spare Well Society cash lying around we wanted to waste.
  10. Most likely Louis Laing or Dom Thomas that wrote it. Or a an Accies fan.
  11. The BBC ins and outs has the "ins" listed as: Cedric Kipre, Alex Fisher Russell Griffiths, Craig Tanner, Gael Bigirimana, Andy Rose, Charles Dunne, Trevor Carson, Liam Brown Liam Brown is on there, but like others have said, I don't know if there is anything different about that, as he seems to be a U20 addition.
  12. Maybe he's counting Lasley. EDIT: we also signed Liam Brown from Queens Park a few weeks ago. Maybe he's counting him.
  13. I would imagine we will be looking for around that figure or a little less. However, given that we picked him up for next to nothing, his contribution to the team, and that a portion of the funds we receive will go towards servicing our debt, it seems like a decent deal. Not to mention we will insert a tasty sell on clause too. I imagine if we hadn't agreed to that, he may have been priced out of our range. So there was a bit of risk mitigation there, too. Even if he stayed on until the end of his contract and left as a free agent, he has still been a cracking piece of business. Firstly because of his contribution. Secondly, as an example to other players we try to recruit as to how we can elevate their visibility.
  14. About as much as the "like" I just gave your post.
  15. Doubts from the self-proclaimed experts in the stands don't equate to doubts from professional scouts whose living depends on identifying players with potential they can develop. Most fans can't see past 45 minutes, never mind 2 years from now with hands-on coaching.
  16. I'm always a little wary of confidential contract details being discussed on the board as if they were fact, but even if Moult's sell on clause was 50% it was a still a great bit of business - especially with the clauses we'll put in his next contract.
  17. The sell-on clause will be included in our valuation of the player, I imagine.
  18. Although if the keeper had positioned himself better, Moult might have put it elsewhere.
  19. Trials work both ways. It's just a like a job interview. He checked us out, we checked him out. He had other offers on the table too, and decided to go with a different one. On the flip side, it seems that a couple of guys we did sign had better financial offers available, but preferred us.
  20. The one thing a move to England would do for Moult is to bulk him up. It did wonders for Murphy and I expect Louis would get the same benefit. I know what you mean about 1 v 1 though. Skippy is the same. It was rare to see him finish a chance like that.
  21. Arsene Wenger reckons it takes 6 months for a new player to get up to speed in his team. Our experts in the stands expect that to happen in pre-season.
  22. Robinson said he was man of the match.
  23. Boro' paid 5 million for him. And nobody wanted him when we were touting him around.
