  1. I'm good with Davor making up the 4, playing in a diamond. I just think we miss Slattery. Or if you want to full-on SK, playing in a 3-1-3-1-2.
  2. Me too. But plenty don't rate him. I thought our strongest lineup included Miller, Spittal and Slattery.
  3. So you admit we have missed Slattery?
  4. If not, he aligns perfectly with our strategy of signing crocked players...
  5. Slattery's goal was my favourite, and the one I voted for. I totally get Theo winning fans POTY because everyone loves a redemption story. I suspect a few people didn't vote for Spittal because he's off to the Jambos. He was my pick for POTY and I think SK has really got the best out of him, but I have no problems with the Bair winning the fans award.
  6. From what I've watched, the issue with many of the soft goals we've lost (and it has been many) is often down to individual mistakes. That is really difficult to resolve through coaching. If you drill the defensive unit on set pieces etc. all week and then somebody switches off for a second, it can be very expensive. Contrast that with coaching someone like Bair or Spittal. If they make a positional error or switch off for a second, then the ball dribbles out of play or the don't connect with a cross. It can still cost us a goal in the credit column, but it never feels quite as damaging - unless it's missing a last minute sitter to win a game. Some fixes are easier, like making sure we keep passes from the back short and simple. For players that continue to make individual errors, it's a more challenging job. Of course there's a valid argument to be made that defending starts from the front and every player needs to be contributing to closing down space, tracking runners etc. - not just the defenders. But it's very frustrating to see strikers get free headers or yards of space to shoot on a weekly basis. Maybe the answer is to find a coach whose expertise is in defending. Maybe the answer is to line up a different way (wing backs seems the least effective way to defend for me). I'm sure part of the answer is in finding one or two better central defenders. We do need to solve it though.
  7. If you've got that impression, then it's obvious you've never spent 60 seconds in my company. Like I said previously, we can all make up metrics to prove we are a "better fan" and it's all pointless BS. Football has always been entertainment for me. The pre-game chat during the week, the banter with mates during the game, and the post-mortem with friends and family after the game. The results are almost incidental to the social interaction. My opinions on here are worth exactly the same as everyone else's. The square root of hee haw. I've be around the internet too long to expect anyone to listen, never mind care, and I know for a fact I know nothing for a fact. I see this place as a virtual pub, were fans from all over the place can gather and talk bollocks to each other over a pint, and then go home and forget about anything that was said by anyone. It's just a game I enjoy, and I'll never take it (or here) too seriously
  8. Difficult to compete with Roy McGregor's deep pockets.
  9. Of course you get a much better atmosphere and match day experience at the game. You do, however, often get a better view and slow motion replays on the MFC stream. Last time I was in The John Hunter Shed I had the pleasure of craning my neck to see around the pillar every time the play came down the Mclean end. Much more leg room on my sofa, too, and safe standing if needed.
  10. I've been to more games than you, travelled more miles to watch games than you (3000 this season alone) and, as a MFC TV subscriber, get to watch every second of every match home and away (and rewatch multiple times if the mood takes me). You have literally no idea how many times I've been to Fir Park this season, or what away games I've been to this year or any other year. So by those self-composed metrics, my opinion is much more valuable than yours and you need to get off your high horse until you've seen more matches live than me? Or perhaps trying to measure whether someone's opinion is worth more than others is pointless BS and we're better focusing on discussing footballing matters on a football discussion board and leaving the sanctimony to the OF fans.
  11. I know people tend to have stronger memories about things that happened most recently, but I can only guess Blaney's family run a bot farm. I wasn't convinced that should even have been top 5.
  12. Not sure reporting world events about people dying in wars has much to do with 'Well fans being happier when they can moan about SOD.
  13. If you want a statistics class in Combinatorics, I can recommend the Open University.
  14. Don't you just hate positivity? That can"t be helpful when you're a sports professional.
  15. I thought McGinn was our stand out in defence today, always seemed to be the man making the decisive tackle or interception. Agree about O'Donnell too. Giving Gent the edge over Miller (just) because I thought he was solid defensively in addition to his attacking threat.
  16. I won't. They can roll up their plastic pitch and take a hike. Zero entertainment ever on offer at their ground against any team.
  17. Hard cheese, Tony Macaroni. Take your pick...
  18. And Casey's range of passes makes Mugabi look like Platini.
  19. McGinn doing his best Winston Wolfe impression today, cleaning up everything.
  20. As a striker? Bair and Vale. As a midfielder, Spittal, Miller and Slattery. In terms of fitness, every one of them is better than Richie "blowin' after 60 mins" Foran. He got a lot of leeway from many fans because of his off the field activities, but as a player, falls very much into the Average category for me.
  21. Wasn't there some chat about Albanian match fixing a while after that game?
  22. That's also typically how many lines the fans remember before lapsing into "da da da da da dah da da dah da dah"
  23. That was back in the good old days when we had Christian and Ranger's biggest celebrity fan was Andy Cameron
  24. I didn't know that. It's a pretty damning indictment only made worse by the fact all the clubs are having to contribute valuable cash to the whole debacle.
