  1. You know Moult is weeks behind on his pre-season after his surgery?
  2. Aye, I'm hoping prospective suitors for Moult are just waiting for him to be 100% fit. I can't see him being a Motherwell player after the window closes. Just hoping he is around long enough to score his farewell hat trick in the season opener. Sounds like a straightforward win today. 9 goals in two games and top of the group.

    Dom Thomas

Suddenly he's gone from "shame he didn't fulfill his potential with us" to "he's worse than ISIS". He's moved on. So should we.
  4. I was only being half-serious, but there are very few formations than can be described in such rigid formations unless the "3" in a 4-2-3-1 aren't allowed to run past the 75 yard point on the pitch.
  5. Manager's choosing players that fit their personal philosophy and tactics is hardly a new thing. Manager's being upset because a player in their team plays well, sounds like a rumour spread by either someone who is friends with the player or someone who dislikes the manager.
  6. Two things you should never believe: 1) A manager talking about transfers 2) See 1)
  7. The number of U20s that make the step up to the first team in any club is minimal. Given the massive intolerance fans have to mistakes even the youngsters make, I'm not surprised Scottish clubs across the board struggle to integrate them. I constantly read people on here saying they want to give youngsters a run out - until they get a run out and then it's a case of posting about how useless they are. The issues run deeper than that, though. Our entire Scottish Football model is set up for short term survival and high financial penalties for failure. I don't see that changing soon.
  8. Thomas was around when McGhee was playing his continually-rotating-front-three with Moult, Skippy and Johnson (or Ainsworth). That was pretty much a "play where you like" approach, and he still didn't impress when he got his chance. All water under the bridge now, though. Good luck to the boy.
  9. We were mince though. Everybody played to win against us.
  10. Standard stuff when a player changes teams. Of course he's going to say he likes it better. I'm sure he'll find plenty of Killie games where they are playing not to lose, right enough. He won't be playing Clyde very week.
  11. Price has just gone up (or it would if I was in charge).
  12. Mixlr will likely be your best (or worst) option. But audio only.
  13. Got to love the way the press reports this as "Former Celtic Midfielder". The guy has played something like 325 professional games of which exactly ONE was for Celtic.
  14. Aye, losing Davie Hay turned out poorly for both parties. We lost an excellent manager and his job in the US never materialised.
  15. Cheers. It's good to know I haven't lost all my faculties yet. Note to self - don't believe Wikipedia over my own memory.
  16. You know, I could have sworn it was Steve too - but wikipedia has it listed as Stuart, so I thought my old memory was playing tricks. He was a pretty mediocre striker, but was a revelation when he stepped backward into defence and won player of the year in that position.
  17. That was Bruce (Brucceeeee) Cleland who was a striker we signed from Albion Rovers. Chic McLelland was a defender. And Stuart McLelland was a striker we converted to a defender where he had more success.
  18. He was also a McCall target, but he said we dropped out when Dundee Utd were able to offer twice the wages we could.
  19. Tuton? I think he was released because we didn't fancy him.
  20. Cheers. We do love the talented frustrators.
  21. I keep seeing his name on here, but his career so far seems to be one of injuries and loans - the most recent being to League Two Mansfield Town with "a view to a permanent transfer." What's his story? Is it one of unfulfilled potential, or do people just think he's good because of his name?
  22. The ambivalence to McDonald is due to a couple of factors, I suspect. One, he said he doesn't see eye to eye with the new gaffer. Two, even in a good year he was often not fit until September/Oct - and he's done zero pre-season so far. Add to that the fact that Robinson is looking for a younger and faster striker, Skippy's ruled out on both counts. Maybe the fact the turned us down for this season also plays into the feeling.
  23. Makes sense. TBH, I don' think Robinson knows his best formation yet, and expect a few more experiments in the Cup games.
  24. From watching on telly, it looked like Tanner was part of a front 2 and Cadden was mostly sticking to the right. In a game like that, though, with so much possession and Queens Park bedding in, there was more scope (and a need) for players to switch up their positions to try and create. I think we'll get more of an idea in the next game, but even then, formation will still be in part dictated by who Robinson decides is the fittest.
