  1. Ross County and Dundee Utd would be good shouts if they weren't so far away. Based on absolutely no evidence whatsoever I get the feeling Skippy would prefer a shorter commute.
  2. Maybe tell him he's been voted off the club. He might just fall for it.
  3. My only prediction is that every report on the game will make a reference to the newly demolished Greenock shipyard cranes.
  4. Is it not the club that moves on players rather than Robinson? Especially if they're under contract. Robinson will just tell the Board who he feels is surplus to requirements, then the Board and the players' agents can sort it out.
  5. It's always a punt when you sign a player from the English lower leagues. Sometimes you get a Moult, more often you don't. Predicting the ability to step up one division is difficult enough. Another wage off the payroll, so let's see who comes next.
  6. I think it's still just a case of who's fittest at this stage. Robinson said last week that guys like Dunne and McManus were still a little behind some others in fitness due to their extended layoffs. No injury problems, just playing it safe.
  7. I don't disagree with anybody that wants shot of him. All I'm saying is if it was a player we wanted to keep we'd play the "support him through this difficult time" card. He does seem to bit of an eejit, even by footballer standards.
  8. If Skippy rejoined us this late in the summer he'd be fit just in time for the winter break.
  9. I didn't vote, but the very fact that Cadden was able to play in a more attacking role again, I thought, made a big difference to the team.
  10. I get it, but all we're looking for here is an excuse to punt him. Pictures taken from massive telephoto lens to accompany an article by scum sucking journalists is hardly solid evidence. Of course, the journalists that write these stories are pretty clever, because not once does it say either of the people, whose privacy they invaded, took anything illegal or did anything illegal. If it was somebody we wanted to stay, the club would issuing statements about newspaper intrusion and to eff off. BTW, I'm not saying we shouldn't punt him. Let's just not pretend it's because we have some moral authority and we'd apply the same rules equally to every player at the club.
  11. Just to put things into perspective from yesterday. Our Premiership rival's results were: Killie lost to League One opposition Hibs had a comfortable win against League Two opposition Accies had to rely on two late goals to beat Lowland League opposition Partick Thistle drew against League One opposition and then lost the penalty shootout. They are all in pre-season too, so I'm not surprised by their struggles, but it makes our 5 - 1 win look pretty good in comparison.
  12. If it was Louis Moult's missus that was seen with an unknown white substance, we wouldn't be debating the content of players' contracts. We'd be outraged at the intrusion from the low life, bottom feeding publication and asking why we should take moral guidance from those scumbags.
  13. I don't remember Skippy ever saying he was heading to Oz. I thought he'd end up somewhere like Hibs. I also heard his wife has no desire to move to Australia.
  14. We kept a hold of (our captain) Paul Quinn after he was convicted of beating a guy unconscious. We signed Bob Malcolm not long after he was found guilty of being so drunk he parked in the middle of the motorway to have a kip. Of course it would be useful if we could get rid of Blyth, but if we do it would obviously be for convenience and not because we take a hard line on bad behaviour.
  15. It sounds like what you are saying is that we started like a team filled with new players and still in pre-season training. Like I said earlier in the thread, anybody who expected anything more than that in mid-July either knows nothing about the game or is just looking for any reason to complain. If you feel the need to boo that, you need a reality check.
  16. Brian Kerr's problem was entirely down to attitude. Unless his injury affected his brain in some way that increased his ego, made him a complete non-tryer on the pitch and saying that his ex-teams were mince every time he moved on. If he'd applied himself he could have been a class act.
  17. Reading slightly between the lines from Robinson's interviews, Dunne and McManus are both a bit behind in fitness because of their enforced extended layoffs.
  18. Presumably that's why we have a shutdown in January.

    Dom Thomas

A couple of his coaches at the U20 level have hinted it too.
  20. I'm not sure if a back 3 is Robinson's preferred approach or of he just felt it would allow us to push up in the expectation we would dominate possession. I guess time will tell. A little slow out of the blocks, but can't complain about the final result. Was great to watch another summer game bathed in sunshine. But enough about the weather here
  21. Selling Moult, getting our Plan A target and in mid-July, would be ideal.
  22. I'm not sure it's just one up front if we have Frear, Tanner and Cadden in the line up. Unless we are trying the old 3 wide players strategy. Maybe an attacking 4-3-2-1? Regardless, like I said in an earlier post, I fully expected today to be competitive, but still include some pre-season experimentation.

Aye, as much as I would have liked Thomas to succeed with us, he seems to have the same attitude as Brian Kerr. Some players overcome their youthful arrogance, but even the massive egos like Ronaldo succeed because they put the work in too.
  24. As Robinson pointed out, we'll get about 600k or more if Cadden leaves at the end of his contract. Added to the fact he still has 2 years left on his contract, it will need to be a sizeable offer.
  25. Having watched us lose multiple times to Queens Park in cup ties over the decades, it wouldn't be that much of an upset to me. I expect us to win, but there are so many variables at this stage of pre-season, it won't necessarily be straightforward.
