Nah, Steve Robinson thinks we can win some of our games.
-
See he's getting another run out this afternoon.

I saw that tweet too. Great stuff.

Aye, it's all fun and games when it starts of with "story goes" on the way back to the car. Then before you know it, we have Trump as President.

Yes to all of those, for various reasons - mostly financial. I know some fans love to think of our Board as drooling imbeciles who can't tie their own shoelaces, but I give them a little more credit than that. And as I post on here every year when it comes to contract negotiations, I don't believe payers or management (or even agents) release the details and yet every year we see posts on here claiming to know exactly how much certain players earn, what their bonuses are and how much of a tip they leave at Nandos.

I think he does fancy him, but doesn't have the budget to take the risk. With the same result that he's likely offski.

Robinson is quoted in the Times today basically saying he's not sure if he will re-sign Lionel or not. For the same reasons we are discussing on here, unsurprisingly. http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/spfl/15296561.Deal_for_Motherwell_s_Lionel_Ainsworth_could_be_out_of_reach/

"story goes" is the new "friend of a friend". If you think about it for even a microsecond, it makes zero sense.

I think Robinson has known for a while who he's letting go and his list of targets. It's just been a case of "wait and see what league we are in" before he (and the Board) could start the clear out.

Clay has suffered from that age old issue at Motherwell - if you don't play like Messi in your first game you are obviously useless. We are going to see more guys like him next season because finances dictate at least some signings will be players who are about average, while we spend money elsewhere and try to develop the youngsters. I think he's been OK and, as it turned out, better value for money than Pearson.

Not immediately, but if we are smart with add-ons we might get that over the course of his career.

And as I recall it was part of the park that was given to the people specifically for leisure use.

I've always been a fan of having a player like Ainsworth in the team most weeks, as even on his bad days he is still capable of creating something. He can always be hooked if it's not coming off for him. The modern game, especially in Scotland, has headed more towards solid, hard working, running about, hard tackling, good engine type players. While there is a place for some of that too, we need the mercurial talents as well. If Ainsworth produced his highest level every week, he'd have been sold on after his first 6 months with us.

Accies scored two going on 5 against County on Tuesday, hitting the woodwork a couple of times and shots cleared off the line. However, they have a much bigger advantage in their defence. Teams like Utd and Fakrik get away with poor defending while they are scoring plenty of goals. They won't find it as easy to score against teams that have been drilling their defence to play against Celtic and Aberdeen.

Totally agree about the long ball stuff. However, he has talked a good game about wanting to play entertaining football and inject a bit of pace into the side. Time to put his money (or our money) where his mouth is.

If it's the councilors that are making the decision they will be balancing the benefit to the community against the financial benefit to their own back pockets. Allegedly.

I really enjoyed the Utd v Falkirk first leg. The problem all these Championship playoff teams face is that, as well a number of games in a short space of time at the end of the season, they haven't played teams of Premiership quality during their campaigns. As a result, players lose that small edge you get from playing at the higher level every week. The Permiership players are used to being closed down quicker, having less opportunities to score in a game and less time to make decisions on the ball. If it was a one-off Final like they have down south, the Championship teams would have a better chance, but I still fancy Accies or ICT will beat either Utd or Falkirk over 2 legs. Both played well this week.
