While that is true, he has made something like 24 appearances this season, so it sounds like they are working on his development.

All VAR has done is move poor decision making on the pitch to poor decision making in the VAR booth. So instead of instant poor decisions, we have to wait a couple of minutes for them. The worst is having to wait for every goal to be confirmed. The most important aspect of football has had the spontaneity sucked out of it. I watch a lot of other leagues, including Scottish Championship, English Championship, Irish etc. and not once have I ever thought "that game would have been better with VAR" When there are tight (or even poor decisions) players and fans moan for 10 seconds then are right back at it. Which is how the game should be.

He'll soon be replacing Andy "was playing for Queens Park" Robertson as Max "was playing for Cove Rangers" Johnston in the commentators' phrase book.

Outhought in what way? Did he infiltrate our training last year to make us bang average all season?

In their case it wasn't about selling shirts. It was about getting eyes on the TV screens. The two owners made a tidy sum selling the rights to FX and it brought in good viewing figures. It also meant every Wrexham FA Cup tie was broadcast live. So it made the investors and the club a few extra quid, which was the reason they invested. They were never going to compete with Messi, or even try. (I've seen as many Messi shirts as Wrexham shirts around here right enough - none).

I think the Hollywood names caught more attention in the UK. In the US the documentary really seemed to strike a chord. Of course the Hollywood connection didn't hurt, but that kind of thing is a little more common with US sports teams.
-
Not sure we were fully committed to that idea - SK certainly wasn't. The reason the Wrexham story became so popular over here was of course because of the documentary. It resonated with a lot of Americans because prior to that their exposure to the game was limited to watching EPL matches. The focus on the fans and the town with its working class roots and social struggles over decades was much more relevant to your average blue collar American than David Beckham buying Miami FC and paying Messi a billion dollars (or whatever). The key is finding that hook. The Mexican players was just a random example because it happened ot me this morning. But there must be plenty of other connections there to be found.

Of course MJC will agree the game's at Fir Park. The rest he doesn't even need to post!
-
On a different note, I haven't been convinced about the impact of social media for generating overseas interest in the club (or any other club our size). This morning, I was talking to someone in Colorado. He's Mexican and big football fan. He told me he follows Dundee because of their 2 Mexican players and watched the highlights of our recent 3 -2 win there. If you can start finding those kinds of connections then there might be an opportunity to engage fans outside of Scotland.

The salary cap idea sounds more like a reaction the new Football Regulator that has been introduced. Most EPL clubs are spewing money and running at a loss thanks to massive wage bills. Not to mention all the issues many are facing with breaches of the Financial Fair Play rules. I doubt it's workable, but something needs to be done. Just look at the data posted here. For example, only 3 clubs making a pre-tax profit and the eye watering debt

Home win.

Given how many teams we play against that launch balls into the box, it's not a bad talent to have. I've said it for years now, that as long as he just keeps his passes short and simple he's worth his place in the team based on his aerial presence.
-
And Casey gives me the fear any time the opposition swings in a cross because there's a fair chance he'll be out of position.
-
I don't care as much what a defender is like on the ball, I need them to be able to defend. That involves marking the right man, compressing space, covering team mates, attacking the ball etc. I've lost count of the number of times this season that Casey has lost his man (or been nowhere near him) and been responsible for conceding a soft goal. He gets less stick from fans because he runs about a lot and makes faces, but his actual defending skills are pretty limited.
-
I also think making him captain has contributed to his dip in form. You see it happen to some players when the additional responsibilities on game days in training takes away some of their focus.
-
Casey has been more of a defensive liability overall this season than Bevis.
-
They can say what they like, but I'd still take Kelly over Roos on their comparible performances this season.
-
You're proving my point.

The only thing more eye-stabblingly painful than the annual "writing off new players we have signed" ritual is the annual "writing off players we haven't signed" ritual.

Their keeper is always good for a howler.
-
Win, lose or draw we will be fine. But we're winning this one.
-
No manager wants to be scrambling about. The challenge is that every player has an agent telling them to wait until the last minute because a better offer might come along.
-
Well, either him or Harry Paton.
-
Probably something to do with his 204 career goals vs Theo's 21.
-
Absolutely. Moult and Scott too.
