  1. As usual, it will all be about recruitment + blooding youngsters next season. It's easy to forget, however, that our typical season involves hovering around mid-table or just below. Gannon was probably the best recruiter we had - I wonder if we can borrow his notebook.
  2. Not sure if it's accurate, but I heard one of the conditions was that we need something like 5 full time people currently dedicated to coaching the youngsters.
  3. - More important to get 3 points than to play well. - Motherwell grind out a priceless 3 points with only 8 fully fit players, 4 of whom have to play out of position. - Flood of complaints on here complaining how bad we were.
  4. Threads like this one remind me that fans are idiots (and I'm happy to include myself in that).
  5. It's impossible to play any kind of football on that plastic monstrosity and I'll be delighted if the pitch is relegated and never returns. Every pass needs a second, waist high touch to bring it under control and any kind of long pass just skids away from players. The wind played a big part too and was no coincidence we did better when it was behind us. Not kidding myself we are a good side, but I would never judge any player on that surface. We got the win we needed, and that is all that matters at this stage of the season.
  6. What vintage was the wine?
  7. An early goal gives me more stress that doesn't dissipate until we go at least 3 (preferably 4) clear.
  8. I hope he is. I just hope he's reasonably fit or it could end up costing us.
  9. I bet he's beelin' that we spelled his name wrong in the thread title.
  10. No point in playing Hammell if he is half fit. Last thing we need is another self-inflicted mistake.
  11. Maybe I misunderstood but since Les took over and, more recently the Well Society, there has been a massive change in the way the club is structured and governed.
  12. It wasn't a criticism - just an observation regarding the content of his interview. I have always been in the pro-McGhee camp. Not blind to his faults (most of which I found entertaining), but overall more positives than negatives in his time with the club. Touting himself to Celtic the same week he joined us didn't do him any favours, mind you.
  13. The only thing bigger than McGhee's ego is his mouth. He might have kept us up though, but it's all whataboutery.
  14. True - but he also said which we all knew - they will have a list of about 20 or 30 players on their target list depending on what their big spending owner allocates to this summer's war chest.
  15. Nobody moves to Rangers unless they pay it all, in cash, up front and the bank confirms it's legit and posted to the MFC account. Even then, I'd be wary,
  16. From Torquay Utd to Rangers, the wealthy fan model ends in failure much more often than success. I'll still be up for it when I win the lottery, though.
  17. Ainsworth was playing mostly central on Saturday and we kept passing it to his feet when he was stationary. I'm not saying he would be the answer, but if we are going to play him we need to play to his strengths.
  18. It'll be a race between you and Trump to see who can finish me off sooner.
  19. Not even close to the Hibs meltdown. They had rotted to the core over a number of years. And as bad as they were, they still controlled most of their play-off until they lost their bottle. This is a bad Motherwell team, but having seen 2 others that were relegated and 2 that avoided it on a technicality, they aren't the worst I've endured. If we can avoid bottom spot, I think we'll survive.
  20. The entire play off system heavily favours the Premiership team. Only a Hibs in total freefall screwed it up. While I'd rather not be in a playoff, I do think we'd win one.
  21. I think we'd beat them comfortably over 2 legs from what I have seen of them on their Alba coverage.
  22. I'm not getting any of these jokes.
  23. I'm not sure Jules was ever intended to be anything other than occasional cover for our regular starters until our injuries hit. He has definitely lost confidence, and our habit of playing players out of position hasn't helped. No way he can play full back.
