  1. I think we need more ball playing and guile in the midfield. We've been crying out for a creativity since Nicky Law left us.
  2. I wish my memory was as good as you think! I'll need to see if I can find the details now. Was post Brian Heron - probably late 70s. I watched it from the enclosure in front of the main stand. EDIT: found it. I had a sneaking suspicion it was when we were both in the First Division, and sure enough, it was in the 1979/80 season (when Hearts won the title and were promoted and we finished a lowly 6th under Ally MacLeod).
  3. Not that it helps us, but on the evidence of the Liverpool v Spurs game earlier today, the top flight officials in the EPL are just as poor.
  4. "Forget it, Jake; it's Chinatown" The motto of all social media these days. Nuance is largely dead.
  5. I understand injuries can put you out a game. If you are burned out from playing by the time December rolls around, however, it might not be the profession for you.
  6. I am definitely not in the Boyd hating camp. I remember when he broke into the first team and played a sweeper like role. It was obvious then he was a good reader of the game - he was just a bit slow at that point. By the time we switched him to left back he was a yard quicker and an excellent player. Just not as good as Mr. Wark. I really don't care what he said or did after he left us. I saw him lift the Cup at Hampden and that is good enough. I find the sectarian views of Psycho (O'Neill not the original, Forbes) pretty small minded and offensive too, but that doesn't make his semi-final goal any less enjoyable.
  7. In all the years I watched Joe Wark, I only remember seeing him make one mistake. It was against Hearts and cost us an early goal. Joe was visibly annoyed about it and played the rest of the game like a man possessed. He set up a goal for us shortly afterwards and led us to a 4 - 2 victory.
  8. Joe Wark by the proverbial country mile - even against the others in that list.
  9. There's no point in worrying about our dip in form at the end of last year. There's no magic formula to instantly turn around a team that was playing so badly. Fact is that since the break, our only defeat was by one goal against Hibs - and we are still in the cup. Still plenty of room for improvement? No doubt. Are we in a better place in Feb than we were in December? No doubt. Am I getting fed up with us having to come back from losing the first goal? No doubt.
  10. Never ceases to amaze me how many teams we play that score with their only shot on target.
  11. Aye, I was very disappointed to hear he had signed for Hibs, but didn't make an appearance last night.
  12. Aye, if you're planning on buying it in Texas, you might need to ask for something different.
  13. Sounds like Stokes will be following the Derek Riordan career path now.
  14. I'm with GazzyB on this one. 10 points from our 5 league games in Feb would be a decent return, plus a cup win. This one should certainly be winnable, but I don't put it in the "must win" category yet. 3 - 1, with Ciftci getting off the mark.
  15. You'd rather he started players that were injured or unfit? Sound.
  16. Hartley has some sort of foot injury that apparently needs to be managed for the rest of the season.
  17. It sound like one of those complicated NBA deals with players moving in all directions Good news for us though.
  18. We bought a top keeper for 10k. The sell-ons are irrelevant. The highly unusual situation we are in now was not planned for by ourselves or Celtic, so all normal negotiations are off the table. If a bid comes in for Carson over the summer, then it's back to business as usual i.e. if the bidder meets the price and we can replace him, then off he goes.
  19. The noises Robinson was making yesterday, it sounded like he was working on a striker too.
  20. We signed Randolph on a free transfer with a 3 year contract. Ruddy was a loan.
  21. Given the fee we received for Randolph (hee haw), a sell on for Carson was a smart move to get a sweet deal. We either get 3 years from a top keeper for 10k, or make a small profit from a transfer. Like Moult before him, even if he runs out his contract, it was still a good signing.
  22. Celtic could easily afford our asking price if they really wanted Carson. The reality is, I suspect, Gordon will be first choice as soon as he's fit so they want a cheap option until the end of the season. In fact, it's not even clear if whoever they sign will be a starter or the back up. Either way, we hold all the cards given the contract situation and the fact we have no need to sell.
  23. Scott Bain is allegedly their new target.
  24. Ah, I didn't notice he was so young.
