  1. If he applied the same marketing talent to this site that he applies to marketing himself and his skills, this place would be 404'd in a week.
  2. Maybe CMWellFan is doing some A/B testing and on another site he is posting reasoned argument with an engaging persona.
  3. Does anyone know if the Marvin and Pearson fees will contribute to that repayment? If so, that will give us a good start.
  4. The Scotsman today has the following story: So Semple must be worth at least that, I'm guessing.
  5. There's basically 3 options when it comes to moderation. 1) Low touch, depending on the posters to keep each other in check 2) High touch, which relies on a full time team of moderators reading every post as soon as it appears and moderating as they see fit 3) Pre-moderated, where every post is put into a queue until they are approved and published Number 1) is really the only workable option for a site like this. As for the moon howlers (btw, what happened to not liking abuse?) they have been killing groups, sites and services since the September that Never Ended. If there was a simple way to eliminate them, billion dollar companies would have found it by now.
  6. I'm sure the forum admins would be delighted if you want to donate your time and expertise to implement and run this. And for what it's worth, I'm the opposite when it comes to emails. If an email takes me to a website it's usually after I have hit the Unsubscribe link.
  7. MFC TV and the Mixlr commentaries also add to the media available for consumption. Not to mention the increase in the number of our games shown on Alba these days (Ross County on Sunday and the Dundee game next weekend). I still enjoy this site, though, as it's easily accessible at work and from my phone, and there is the odd nugget of information to be found amongst the posts from the odd nuggets. The abuse handed out can be harsh sometimes, but not compared to other corners of the internet - and I think we do a pretty good job of self policing.
  8. Exactly. Plus the guy had a lot of success as a player in an excellent Aberdeen team, European success and a stint in Germany. So he has a lot of interesting stories to tell.
  9. Damp squib. Just kidding. Tight win with a late goal giving us a 2 goal victory.
  10. I was a big critic of McGhee's approach off the park the first time he was here. Especially his loud mouth comments about wanting the Celtic job and the Scotland job every other week. I actually think he is doing much better this time around and I find his press conferences much more entertaining than a Baraclough or a McCall. Not perfect, and I don't believe a word he says about transfers or injuries or what he really thinks of players etc. but that's part of the job. He has his tactical flaws and every now and then overthinks and over complicates things on the field, but he recognizes the need to try and play attacking and entertaining football and overall I think he's doing a good job given the wide and varied constraints of budgets, inheriting an oversize squad, the need to bring in youngsters without disrupting the team, the community work the club does and the old and new ownership structures.
  11. Not voting, but glad Skippy is hitting form. Seems to take him a couple of months of games to get up to speed, but worth the wait.
  12. Great that we had a game so soon after our last debacle as it allowed us to use the frustration felt by everyone in a positive way. It's been a frustrating stop/start season so far that hasn't helped the guys who need game time under their belts - the new faces and those returning from injury. Been very difficult to gain any sort of momentum. Another 4 goal performance is very pleasing.
  13. As one of the new owners, I approve of this performance so far.
  14. The Board will have final say. We own the club, we're not running it.
  15. I never quite understood why, but keepers seem to be a protected species. Every team seems to be much more forgiving of poor performances before they finally make a change. How's he been playing in the U20s? I haven't heard much, but what I have heard are comments like "not doing himself any favours". But that has been a pretty small sample size.
  16. Certainly was. He took a part time Morton side from the First Division into the top flight. I think he was also the manager who brought Andy Ritchie to Cappielow.
  17. I don't know what the laws are in Thailand, but in China the copyright laws - in the rare cases they exist - are generally ignored by the authorities. So it might be difficult to shut them dwon. I remember a few years ago reading an article about some "real fakes" that were made in China. It's no secret a lot of good are only expensive because of the label. Apparently, there were some manufacturing sites in China where once their contracted production runs were complete, would do a "fake" run on the same machines using the same materials and then sell them off at significant discount. So they were the same goods of the same quality, but sold at the knock-off prices.
  18. I know what you mean, but for clubs like ours, reducing the price would cut the budget even more and likely reduce the quality again.
  19. Aye, let's criticize McGhee for doing exactly what everyone has been asking him to do. Whether you agree with him or not, I'm pretty sure he did what he thought would give us our best chance at Ibrox. If he thought they were ready then, he'd have thrown them on.
  20. Looks like the free breakfast at Motorpoint will be the highlight of the day.
  21. Scheduling is the biggest issue I think. You're spot on about breaking the habit. I'm sure our household wasn't the only one where our weekend was organized around 3pm kick-offs on a Saturday afternoon. Combined with the saturation of live games (and other sport) on telly, it suddenly becomes a lot more difficult to attend Sat, Sun, Mon, Wed and Fri games at different times of day and night. It's easy to have hindsight, but it was obvious when we signed away TV rights that fans were going to be screwed over for the sake of viewing audiences.
  22. Seems quite nasty. A quick google on post-concussion syndrome says that while for most people the symptoms go away within 3 months, they can persist for a year or more.
  23. I was thinking about that, but don't have access to the inflation data. However, anecdotally, I bought my first season ticket for the 84/85 season. I was a student, but had to buy a full price ticket as we didn't have students' concessions in those days. I was working a summer job at the M74 Services in Strathclyde Park, so spent some of my hard earned. The season ticket cost me 32 quid with the early-bird discount. That ticket gave me entry to every home league game, every home cup game and every reserve game. I don't recall the exact gate price at the time, but I do remember that the season ticket saved me over 40% on league and cup games. We may have got pre-season friendlies on it too, but I may be misremembering that. I'm pretty sure prices have risen faster than inflation, but even if they haven't, I got a lot more value from a season ticket in 84/85 than I get now. So that alone makes the game more expensive.
  24. Every player that joins us from down south says that "these are the kind of games you want to play in". Maybe they can back that up sometime by putting in a performance.
