  1. It doesn't mean we were shafted. The Well Society are not custodians of the club. The Well Society does not in any way, shape or form own the club. But apart from that, aye.
  2. A few decent pubs around town - he'll be OK.
  3. Apart from a few posters on here, I didn't see the club put a 1 million price on him. If selling below the asking price is a failure, then every salesman in the planet is a failure, because they always set prices above what they want and negotiate down.
  4. Like very player that has left us - good, bad or indifferent - we'll adjust and move on. It's still better than the days when we used to flog our best players directly to Rangers or Celtic.
  5. Assuming it is Oxford, it's sad that even in this day and age clubs and agents still feel the need to play the offer, reject, offer, reject, no way we come back, transfer request, oh we're back, game. Just do your business like grown-ups and let us know when you're done. Ta.
  6. If his career doesn't pan out he can always just buy a season ticket for the East Stand.
  7. Would be great if he was at Oxford, as that would mean they met our valuation. As others have said though, about as legit as a 9 bob note.
  8. What the agent says has nothing to do with how Marvin is thinking. So I'd just ignore that. Remember when Skippy's agent was mouthing off when we turned down Ranger's offer? "Dream move denied" etc. etc. As if he didn't really want to go to Celtic instead. It's the game agents like to play - partly I'm sure to try and annoy fans and get them in favour of a move. It's rarely the real thoughts of the player or the club, though. Just another reason to hate the scummy, bottom feeders.
  9. While I agree with this, and have no doubt we do have a plan, it may be a challenge to implement if we only have, say, 12hrs to execute.
  10. I think "get rid of" sounds a bit harsh. I also find it amusing that we give teams like Dundee Utd credit for talking up their players, but criticize our club when they do exactly the same thing. It's almost as if fans will only be happy if we sell players for as little as possible - presumably so they can moan about how poor we are at selling players. I'd be quite happy if we could sell one player for 2-300k every season. Anything more than that is a nice bonus.
  11. Sounds easy enough, That gets my vote. It's sheer stupidity to look for as many avenues as we can to generate profit and clear off our debts.
  12. TBF, his maw's basement gets a bit dark even at this time of year.
  13. McGhee has done exactly the right thing. I don't care what the valuations thrown around are, but talking up a player does no harm. Talking down a player, like we have been doing for years, never has a positive effect on their transfer fee (if we even mange to move them on). In poker terms, it's +EV to big up a player.
  14. You're certainly about as funny as the taxi drivers I've suffered through.
  15. As a selling club, it's trend we need to encourage and embrace. If we're not selling on a decent a player every year, then we're not following our financial plan.
  16. In all 170 appearances?
  17. That's been the story of our season so far. Hopefully improves when Moult returns.
  18. If we need to bring on a striker I suspect Faddy is an option up top.
  19. The fact that he made over 170 appearances for us and was part of one of our most successful teams ever suggests he was at least adequate. I think some people took against him because of his faither.
  20. I'm not sure the core fan base has the right to much of a say. In an ideal world, obviously, you don't want to sell to a developer that is going to strip your assets and destroy the club. In this case, however, there has only ever been one option. Unless a sympathetic benefactor suddenly crawls out the woodwork, we don't have many alternatives. I would like there to be a consultation with Society members, but I doubt we can have that much influence over the final details. The ball is in Les' court and while I don't think he has any intention to harm the club in any way, he literally owns us. The point about crowds reducing and income revenues constrained is another argument in favour of Society ownership and our new approach to budgeting. As much as people like to complain (myself included) about the Society, it has provided essential loans to the club on multiple occasions since it was founded.
  21. Given your footballing knowledge and substantial wealth, I'm surprised you didn't just buy the club when it was up for sale.
  22. This site has been full of posters complaining how weak are in midfield this season, and now we are complaining a member of that midfield isn't called up for international duty?
  23. I know what you mean, and it is frustrating, but their hands are tied in this case and it's probably better not to be breaking the law.
  24. Would be David Clarkson all over again.
