TBF, I'd expect nothing less from a team fighting for survival. That's why they are so difficult to play against. Of course it's up to the ref to deal with it, but if they don't then that's what happens. The good thing is we dealt with it and we won. As for Skippy, he's got previous with the red mist and he was dead lucky to stay on the park.

I'm more pro than anti McGhee, but I think he is a little less foot-in-mouth these days. I find his arrogance to be quite entertaining at times as it's often in the form of subtle digs at clueless journos.

Not pretty from United, but it's been working for them recently and sometimes you need to try and battle your way out from their position. Glad to see, like against Accies, we stood up to it well. Enjoyed the game tonight. Under the floodlights, greasy pitch with the ball zipping around, crunching tackles, open play and some quality in the second half. You wouldn't see a game like that on plastic in the summer (or the winter).

I'm not saying I agree with McManus' statements, just that I can see how it would play well with his team mates. As for next season, a big defender from his German contacts must surely be on the cards from McGhee.

Sticking up for his team mates, you mean? I'm pretty sure they found that to be positive, even if the gaffer did not.

Guys like McManus are a compromise between experience and talent. It can be frustrating when he switches off for a few minutes during games, especially when you see what he can bring when he is 100% focused. On the other hand, I doubt Ben Hall would have made the same progress if he didn't have the experience of McManus talking him through a game. Also, if McManus conducts himself as well in the changing room as he does in his press conferences, I can imagine that is a very positive influence on the guys around him.

I'm not just talking about that game - although the should have tied up 2nd place before we nicked it from them. In previous seasons too, both Aberdeen and Dundee Utd fell away at the run in.

They bottled it a few times when we ended up best of the rest.
