  1. I'm not saying I agree with McManus' statements, just that I can see how it would play well with his team mates. As for next season, a big defender from his German contacts must surely be on the cards from McGhee.
  2. Sticking up for his team mates, you mean? I'm pretty sure they found that to be positive, even if the gaffer did not.
  3. Guys like McManus are a compromise between experience and talent. It can be frustrating when he switches off for a few minutes during games, especially when you see what he can bring when he is 100% focused. On the other hand, I doubt Ben Hall would have made the same progress if he didn't have the experience of McManus talking him through a game. Also, if McManus conducts himself as well in the changing room as he does in his press conferences, I can imagine that is a very positive influence on the guys around him.

I'm not just talking about that game - although the should have tied up 2nd place before we nicked it from them. In previous seasons too, both Aberdeen and Dundee Utd fell away at the run in.

They bottled it a few times when we ended up best of the rest.

Proving once again that points on the board are more valuable than games in hand.

Aye, whether they end up being safe or not, if we keep them behind us, it's a good thing.
  8. I think that headline should have read "How Roger Hynd is Changing the Game -For the Worse"
  9. I'd stick with the team that won the semi.
  10. Good to see from the highlights that we finished the game at the Accies' corner flag killing time. The players must read this site for coaching tips.
  11. I think it's the latter. I have been to NDP a few times and it's just a terrible place to watch football on a terrible plastic pitch.
  12. Tom Boyd played almost a sweeper type role in central defence before he moved to full back.

I'm not convinced Hibs will get past Falkirk for the play-off final right now.
  14. No idea what the circumstances were, but under the law, typically the "defending yourself" test means running away unless you're backed up against a wall with no escape route. Whether that's fair or not is up for debate.
  15. Not that we have been in the same division that often in my years following 'Well, but our performances at both Old and New DP over the years have been pretty shocking at times. I have taken plenty of stick from my Accies supporting mates.

Certainly, earlier in the season, 40 points was the number McGhee was quoting as "safe" and when he thought he could bring in more youngsters.

    Late Winners

I think my favourite was Paul Mills against Dunfermline at East End Park. Ref was having a nightmare, every decision was going against us and Mills popped up at the death to nick the winner.
  18. While, of course, there were long stretches where we were in different divisions, I don't remember us having a great record at the old Douglas Park either. Be happy to take points from this one. Winning by a few would be a nice bonus, but I suspect Accies will plan to keep things as tight as they can.
  19. Remember, however it's the club that is supposed to pay back the loan, not the fans or The Society. Also, regardless of whether the fans eventually own the club, The Society has provided vital funds to the club over the past few seasons, and by that measure alone, can be considered a success.
  20. TBF, Gardiner would proably have been better with a dodgy shoulder because he couldn't catch a ball with 2 functional ones.
  21. To be fair, Weir was one of the board members who, at a fans Q&A admitted that they had got into the habit of budgeting too adventurously because they were taking recent success for granted.
  22. Ah, so I'm only half senile. Better than I thought.
