  1. Ad homenim attacks aside, I'm sure we're all anxious to hear which specific part you take issue with. Do you disagree with the notion that The Orange Order perpetuates sectarianism? Or are you just upset that someone using the informal term 'orange marching band' was immediately understood by many? What is the preferred term amongst the participants? Feel free to educate us and relieve us of our obvious ignorance.
  2. Was thinking the same. The guy has been around the EPL and Championship so I hope he has more contacts than that.
  3. In case it's not clear, he and others are saying they think The Orange Order and its affiliates such as The Grand Orange Lodge of Scotland, perpetuate a sectarian divisiveness that has no place in a modern, 21st Century Scottish (or Irish) society.
  4. We brought in (as usual) a manager with contacts in the lower leagues, and implemented a scoutng system to identify lower league players with potential sell on value. So all the signings seem in line with that stratgey.
  5. He's not long turned 19. Nowhere near a make or break season for him. If we take our time to develop him correctly he has the makings of a great player. His only disadvantage is playing in a league where many prefer bulk over talent. A decent coach can develop muscle into a player - you can't coach skill like that into someone.
  6. That is another great bit of PR given the debt they have accrued during this time of "big transfer fees" for their youngsters. Even after Mackay Steven went, weren't they in debt to the tune of 3 million or so? So the amount they are investing isn't generating sufficient return.
  7. Dundee Utd do great PR on their "youngsters" but if you look at their track record a lot of them were blooded at other clubs. Mackay-Steven was at Liverpool (and then Airdrie Utd), Craig Conway at Ayr Utd., Robertson at Celtic and then Queens Park. Goodwillie is about the only one that came through the ranks and made it all the way to Aberdeen.
  8. Aye, and there's no such thing as an Orange Walk, Orangemen and Orange Lodges - but we all know what they are too.
  9. Aye, I don't think we ever managed to adequately replace Nicky Law. McCall made a few duff signings, but Law was a gem.
  10. If I had to choose, I'd actually be looking for a creative midfielder purely because it's easier to slot a defender into the defensive midfielder role if required.
  11. They do, but the TV ratings are pretty low.
  12. We all hit an age where the only thing guaranteed to fit every year is the club tie.
  13. Man Travels 800 Miles on Summer Holiday. Picutres at 10 (and 11, and 12 and for the next 25 years).
  14. I see Man City are sniffing around James McCarthy. If that deal goes through I imagine Accies might have another wee windfall to help keep them further up the table.
  15. If it was Lasley, he'd probably concede another pen.
  16. Aye, he does sound more like an old Jewish comedian than an African footballer.
  17. Perhaps, but I think it's a stretch to say he'll be the difference between struggling at the bottom to pushing for the top 6.
  18. I like Skippy, but I don't think he's that influential - especially as our biggest failings tend to be in defence.
  19. Trying out a few things and just trying to get everyone some game time I would think.
  20. Max Gradel played for Leeds the same time as Grella. So it was pretty close. He also played for Leeds against us the pre-season a few years ago.
  21. There hasn't been silence though. Bara was asked a few times about Marv and Hammell's omissions, and he said that they felt some reaction to their workouts and he wasn't going to risk any issues by playing them in a bounce game. It's all about being fit for the start of the season, not a friendly.
  22. Bara keeps saying it's precautionary. Won't risk playing anyone that is feeling any tightness or pain after training.
  23. Good to see the pre-season moans getting an outing. As well as eliminating the 12 quid entry price issue, playing training games behind closed doors would also reduce the panic, and complaining and misery on here. We have had some truly mince-worthy seasons on the back of a good pre-season and vice-versa. As long as we get through them injury free and let the new boys settle in, the results are pretty meaningless. Especially when there are so many subs and the bosses are playing with ideas and formations.
