True, but as always, it's a case of "more wages for sitting on the bench vs. less wages and establishing yourself". There's no substitute for playing time for developing a career.

When the OF are in town, the polis want to get people in and out as quickly as possible. It's all about crowd management - not about how many arrests they can make or infiltrators they can eject. If making an arrest is likely to spark more trouble, they are always going to pass on the chance. I'm not saying it's fair, but unless there is one officer per fan, it's always going to be how it happens.

Was hoping Erwin might sign one more deal, especially after we nursed him through his two bad injuries. However, it does seem that we'd get some decent money for him (and continue to do so for all future transfers). So it would be decent business, and an overdue success from our youth system. Would love to see Skippy join Pearson with a 2 year contract, but if he is settled in England, then I'm sure he won't be short of options closer to home.

He's out of contract and in his pre-match interview said he loved his time at Motherwell and would be interested in a deal. Of course, that might just have been him saying the right things, but he seemed genuinely impressed about the time he spent with us.

I think McCall persuaded Nicky that newRangers were still a big club and it would be a good career move. The bottom line is, it doesn't matter how good a player you are, if you aren't playing against anyone as good or better than you are, you stop developing and start regressing.

I honestly don't think he has the quality of player at Ibrox he needs to play football, especially when it comes to speed on the flanks. Nicky Law is the most creative player they have, and his game has gone backwards since he dropped down the divisions.

He didn't even need to push it over. It looks like he had time just to cushion it with both hands to keep it from crossing the line then catch it or fall on it after it bounced.

He signed Skippy, Pearson, Grant, Laing, Johnson and also gave Erwin an extended run in the first team. That's not a bad strike rate in a January window for any manager. And as much as Long has been criticized for his mistakes recently, he didn't put a foot wrong in the play-off games.

Agree with most of this. I know there will be inevitably be some complaints, but for this play-off: - The Board did a great job standing up to Rangers and looking after the fans with tickets etc. - The backroom staff did a great job in scouting the potential opponents and getting guys like Laing and Pearson fit to play - Bara hasn't been perfect this season, but his preparation for this seemed to be painstaking and his tactics spot on - Every player, young and old, stepped up and not only played well, but rose to the occasion - The fans were superb in both ties, and was a pleasure to see and hear from 3000 miles away. Good to see the 'Well Bois getting credit on the telly and in the papers this week. - Apart from challenging for top spot, I can't imagine a more exciting and pleasing way to end the season BUT For all that, can we please never put ourselves in this position again?

That was more nerve-rackng than the Cup Final for me because of the consequences of losing. On one hand, we were "only" playing the 3rd best team in the Championship and should have nothing to fear, on the other was our recent record against them and the full attention of the media (and the rest of Scottish football). Was another cracking performance today and Rangers never really looked like scoring. I'm not one of the McCall haters - I enjoyed most of his time at the club - but he had been in charge of this week, I'm pretty sure we would be have been relegated today.

Looking at our home record this season, I think only Accies have beaten us by more than 2 goals, and that was when we were pure mince and they were on a flyer. Apart from the last game of the season, the last time we failed to score at home was against Dundee on February 21st. I know it's a one-off situation, but I'd be surprised if we don't score on Sunday and a goal really should seal the deal. Like you, still nervous though.

Most pleasing thing was seeing a Motherwell side rise to the occasion at Ibrox rather than fold like a cheap suit.

I imagine even if he is crocked we won't be releasing that information for public consumption until the last possible minute.
