  1. Other things I heard 2nd hand -I that the plan for the loan is the club to repay rather than the Society. Derek Weir admitted that the club budgeted poorly, getting carried away with their wee bit of success and expecting it to continue to some degree. Leann wouldn't allow any changes to the Well Society payment structure, which is why it wasn't until she left they could start making changes. Erwin been offered 2 contracts, and "thinking it over with is agent". Development fee is complex but set formula, and would expect 6 figures if he left, and would continue to receive a small cut on any future transfer fees after that. Doesn't matter if he is out of contract when he leaves.
  2. My dad and brother were at the meeting last night and they came away with a completely different impression of that the reply. The questioner asked, I'm told, something along the lines of "How can you expect fans to pay for season tickets, Well Society membership, new kit etc." and Les's response was don't buy a season ticket - meaning if you had to choose, the Well Society is more important to the club in the long term than a season ticket. But who knows? I'm surprised nobody picked him up on that if they were that upset by it. Seems like anything was fair game to be asked, and nobody left until all the questions were exhausted.
  3. If we were interested in McDonald, we'd have been sounding him out long before the first day of summer.
  4. Les' view being perceived as fear mongering by some, but I'm struggling to see how his financial assessment of the club can be argued with. You know he's been through the books at a forensic level.
  5. Alternative could have been same price if we're relegated, 10% increase if we stay up.
  6. I would have expected that prior to the League Sponsorship deal. but now I expect that even if they don't get promoted the new deal will make sure they get an unfair split somehow.
  7. We certainly need to ditch a number of players. Injuries forced our hand to bring in extra bodies during the window, but that could never be more than a short term solution to meet an immediate need. Plus, you never get the best players in the January window.
  8. This is no time for facts to get in the way.
  9. Stuart McCall will be looking for a new job when Advocaat takes over in the summer. Maybe he's had time to work out a plan B by now.
  10. I'd imagine, given the choice between sitting on the bench at a better team, or playing every week with us, quite a few would choose the latter.
  11. I hope you continue you post your disappointment on here so we can all share it.
  12. And you can bet it's the same vultures who complained we don't give youth a chance.
  13. But these are the same pre-Baraclough players that many on here said were "stealing a wage" and "a waste of a jersey". You can't have it both ways. And there are plenty of reasons to disbelieve it. Most football players are like weans. They think they are world beaters when they are winning, but when the shit hits the fan and they can't string 2 passes together, then it's everyone's fault but their own and their agents need to get them a move ASAP. I can imagine there was resentment when the new fitness regime was introduced - every club in Scotland that has tried that has met resistance. I think there must be a rule in the PFA Union Handbook that says 4hrs training a day is only allowed if snooker, golf and trips to bookies are on hand every afternoon. They need to get over themselves and prove they are worth staying in the top flight. They are supposed to be playing for our entertainment, not their own fragile egos.
  14. Could you try that instead of posting too? It's unfair the team doesn't have to put up with you, but we do.
  15. The bigger problem lies in front of the keeper. Our defence has a habit of switching off three or four times a game, and has done for the last 3 seasons. When we were banging in goals at the other end it didn't matter so much, but obviously more significant when we are struggling. I said at the time Dan was a lazy, panic signing. He was lucky we hit a bit a form during his loan rather than him being responsible for our upswing. I don't think there's much to choose between them, but unless we're claiming Randolph was mince, we can't blame Marshall's coaching. Right now, I'd be more concerned about ensuring our defence can focus for 90 minutes every game. Do that and we can win the play-off with either keeper.
  16. So us being level and one of our rivals losing doesn't sound good? It's might not be ideal yet, but it's much better than us being a goal down and our rivals winning.
  17. If we hang on to Erwin, we need to find him a partner. Skippy has been the ideal foil for him, but I'd be surprised if we hold on to him even if we stay up. When Sutton plays, Big Lee has to play out wide which isn't his best position. In the U20s, he had a great partnership with Moore, so maybe that's a possibility, but even then I think we'd still need someone more experienced to guide them. Clarkson might fit that bill, but maybe we need someone a bit more vocal to replace Skippy as the moaning git up front.
  18. We need to do to St Mirren in the first half what Southampton are doing to Villa in their first half. 5 goals up already. If we give them any encouragement, it will be a tough game, but if we score one early, they might just fold. I have a feeling things are going to work out for us today across all the games.
  19. Of course he said as much himself, he's hardly going to say "I'm shit at my job". The Barry Hearn interview where he tore Doncaster a new one was spot on. Hearn is a master promoter who has expertise in making wads of cash from average sporting spectacles. The SPFL might not be the best league in the country, but when you have a CEO who spends more time talking about its lack of quality than marketing it as an exciting product to sponsor, then you have the wrong CEO.
  20. Aye, but that's not what he is claiming.
  21. Or he could have signed his deal sooner (like Dom Thomas and Pearson) and worked his arse off to keep us in the league he wants to play in.
  22. The clubs didn't make a pigs ear of finding a sponsor. That is 100% Doncaster.
  23. The clubs voted for this themselves. There is no illusion - they could have changed it if they wanted to. Remember, they didn't even want old Rangers to drop out of the top flight and were upset when the fans demanded otherwise.
  24. The only question to be asked if we lose him is "Lee, why did you turn down the chance to develop playing first team football and choose to sit for a long spell on the bench elsewhere?" The contract has been offered, and given our new club strategy and finances, I imagine it is a generous one for where he is in his career. What we can't do is force him to sign it or stop his agent from shopping him around. I'm not usually too upset when someone leave us - it's the nature of the game. In Erwin's case, I would be more upset only because we stuck by him through 2 serious injuries and then bumped him up to the first team.
  25. Agree with that. The gaffer is obviously keen on giving him first team football and helping him develop. A move to a team like Celtic will see him back in the U20s and the odd appearance in the League Cup.
