Dan isn't as good as people made him out to be and was disappointed when we signed him. Long isn't as bad a some make him out to be. Between the 2 it's a tough call, but as quick as people are to point out his mistakes he has his moments too - his save against ICT just before half time probably won the game for us and helped us on our current run. Just on the principal of not changing a winning team, I'd keep him in for now.

A win would be ideal, but even if we do win, the dog fight starts for real after the split. Think we'll be good for 3 points though, and I'd rather be playing St. Mirren now, when their nerves might kick in, than when they are definitely relegated and the pressure is off and letting them play without fear.

That is a great example of my post earlier in tbe thread. Erwin's play there cost us a goal as much as Long's mistake. Long will take pelters for his error, but Erwin gets MotM. For me, they should both be cut a break. Glad to see big Lee get his goal though - well deserved.
-
I'm sure they think the same about us.
-
Forget County. We can look to catch them after the split. We need to focus on winning this game today.
-
Keepers get a raw deal. If big Lee or Skippy miss a sitter that has the same net effect on the score as a keeper's mistake, people give them a free pass.
-
Cheers. If we are 3 goals up with 5 minutes to play I'll tune in, otherwise my nerves can take radio these days!

+1 on the Mobdro too. Have also found that to be reliable.

If it's on BT Sports, you should be able to access it on the cricfree.tv site. At least from the US, I have no bother wathcing BT Sport games on there. I think the "Hola" plug in for Chrome should do the business too (if it's an Android tablet you have)

Did he track back though? If he didn't, he was obviously mince.

Not only was he a Motherwell player during the World Cup, but I think he actually improved after it.

Dundee Utd's strategy isn't really taking advantage of Bosman, though - it's countering the problems that Bosman generates. It's a high risk strategy and while it might generate the odd high price sale, until their latest outside investment, United were 3.5 million in debt even after their high profile transfers over the summer. Having said that, I think our 2 year deal strategy was far too conservative, and glad to see the new owner has moved us towards tying up some of our promising youngsters on longer term deals.
-
Not sure how we could make Bosman work for us. The problem when we lost out on transfer fees is that large sums of money still changed hands - it just went into players (and agents) pockets instead. We did do some clever cross border dealings with the likes of Coke and Porter, picking them up for nowt when transfers fees would have been required elsewhere. Also the Anier and Ojamaa signings were smart business deals.

I saw that. Have to give them credit - Hearts have done everything exactly right since they went into administration. Glad to see they are coming straight back up. Just hope we are around to reignite the rivalry next season.

Plus, like this week, we can always arrange the odd (behind closed doors) bounce game when required.

I'm guessing the latest Q&A will only be available to attendees again. Any long distance and ex-pat members will be out of luck. I'm getting tired of hearing myself saying this, but not being able to upgrade membership online, and not being able to participate in any Society meetings is making my membership seem less and less valuable every month.

Every player in a team like ours (except, maybe, Las and Hammell) should be playing for a move.
-
I think we can take it as read that McHugh will be gone. Scored for fun in the U20s, but doesn't seem to be able to cut it in the first team. Skippy and Sutton would be great assets - but only if we can stay in the top flight. Doubt we'll see Skippy next season, though.
-
Hate to be the first to tell you, but we've already lost our SPL status.
-
Not sure if the software allows it, but is it possible to add the MFC Twitter feed to be displayed anywhere? Their match updates could replace the shoutbox during the games and leave the chat to the thread.

If we keep winning our games, we will stay up. It's that simple - not easy, but simple. You can guarantee when the chips are down one team will lose their bottle and one team will step up. Last season, it was us who stepped up to win our last 3 games and overtake Aberdeen. Hopefully, this season it will be us again - just at the other end of the table. If we stay in touch with 10th and 9th until post-split, it's all to play for with a lot of 6 pointers.
-
True, but it makes our result even more important. Plenty of opportunities for the bottom 6 to lose points and, even better, take points off each other. We need to keep our momentum going because best case it will keep us out of a relegation spot and worst case (I hope) will give us some positive form going into a play off.

The guy's a goal scorer as he proves time and time again; even when he isn't firing on all cylinders. I'd definitely be happy if we kept him as he gives us options and I'm sure Moore and Erwin can learn a lot from him. If there is any chance of keeping Skippy, though, I fear one of our strikers will be released. Not sure Skippy will be sticking around though.

Aye, I remember I was reading the Evening Times waiting for a train at Argyle Street when I read he had signed. Was delighted as it seemed more likely he was going to Hearts at the time. Wee Tommy had been building his team from the back, which wasn't pretty at times, but it was effective. Signing guys like Cooper & Russell (whose contribution is sometimes overlooked) was when he started building an attacking force on that foundation. As much as Davie's skills impressed, I always enjoyed watching his positioning too. He had an uncanny knack of watching 2 players challenging for a ball and standing in exactly the right place to collect it when it broke. You can't teach that. Always gave me the fear when he was taking corners and free kicks against us, so was delighted to get the benefit of that for a few years.

That's why he's the manager and the posters on here are punters.
