  1. What about Crawford Baptie's Fir Park debut against Dundee? Scored both our goals and looked like he might be a player. Just goes to show...
  2. Even the good guys can show a level of bigotry though - and not just OF fans. I have known a few fans of various teams who seem pretty level-headed before coming out with some weird sectarian comments. It runs deep in the West of Scotland on both sides of the religious divide.
  3. Wasn't just linked - he almost signed for them
  4. Like I posted in one of the Baraclough Out threads, Tommy McLean's stats in the SPL are pretty grim reading by recent standards (but not by the standards of when he took over) After winning the First Division in the 84/85 season we managed: 85-86: 9th out of 10 - saved by league expansion from 10 to 12 teams 86-87: 8th 87-88: 8th 88-89: 9th 89-90: 6th 90-91: 6th 91-92: 10th 92-93: 9th 93-94: 3rd - First time we finished in the top half of the SPL under McLean No way he'd have lasted that long in the current environment. Back on topic, I remember John McKeever's winning performance against an excellent Dundee Utd team that had the Daily Record tagging him as the next Gerd Muller.
  5. Related to the other thread, I think McLair's 5 goals in 2 games to beat Celtic & Rangers in consecutive home games ranks as pretty memorable.
  6. Was the Anglo Scottish cup, I think - after the bigger clubs gave up on the Texaco. I do remember it, though.
  7. A great day out spoiled only by the referee... ...starting the game.
  8. Supporting Motherwell makes me happy. Take that, haters.
  9. We have had Scotland strikers in recent years who haven't been able to control a ball.
  10. Is there anybody that ever posts on here that actually falls into the "happy clappy" category?
  11. Paul Quinn was no match for Andy Dornan.
  12. Given previous weeks' performances, not exactly surprising we didn't hit the heights today. Hard work starts now.
  13. This. Even when were worse than we are now I enjoyed the build up and the post mortems of every game.
  14. Same here. It will be an internet stream and, if we win, maybe watch the highlights on Sportscene later. I'd be happy to cough up for the MFC TV internet stream.
  15. Aye, 2 - 0 sounds right, with Marinello having a bit of a blinder.
  16. The St. Mirren cup game against Fergie's team was memorable for the atmosphere and the result - although not so much the quality of the game. Given the circumstances this weekend, I also have fond memories of a Hearts game at Fir Park where Joe Wark gifted them an opening goal - a rare event to say the least - and then played like a man possessed for the the remainder, setting up a goal for us and leading us to a 4 - 2 victory. Then there was the famous Killie 5 - 4 game with Mr. McVie's early bath in the second half. Away from home, the Cowdenbeath cup tie where it seemed like half of Lanarkshire turned up to watch us win was a great day out.
  17. It will be on Fox Soccer Plus (or in my case, an internet stream, as FSP is one of the few football channels I don't get).
  18. It will take me a while to digest everything in this post, but thanks for taking the time to lay it out in such detail. An immediate question though is that this seems to be focused on WS who have no (or minimal) say in the governance of our club at this stage. Isn't the club ultimately owned and run by Les currently, and the outstanding loans owned by the club? The WS doesn't come into play from a governance perspective until the loans are re-payed.
  19. Wasn't it our mysterious benefactor from Oxford that was sponsoring him? I think he was named later in the process.

    Mark McGhee

Aye, I hate it when managers are articulate and good and dealing with journalist's stupid and transparently leading questions.
  21. The WS is already a success because it has loaned the club funds (interest free) on a number of occasions that it would have been unable to secure elsewhere. If all it ever does is that, then it has still been a worthwhile exercise.
  22. How much did we owe to Boyle at that stage?
  23. If I was Craigan, I'd be sticking to my U20s and telly duties. All the enjoyment of coaching, no real pressures of management and a nice number being a pundit. Best he can hope for in managing our club is a year or two of success then getting punted like every other manager.
