I think the McCart issue is more to do with the fact he promised not to try and poach any MFC youngsters when he left and then went back on his word.

I think we rushed into signing Dan, and better options in the Ruddy/Randolph mode might have been available. He's certainly OK, but doesn't live up to the hype that so many built up after his loan stint.

I also used to hate it when guys like Davie Cooper, Bobby Russell, Tommy Coyne and Owen Coyle lay down against the OF to help their mates' goal difference and league position.

Butcher had the personality to get us through the early stages of our administration and recovery. We did end up bottom in 2003 though, and dead lucky not to be relegated. After that, we made it in to the top 6 a couple of times, but he seemed incapable of winning games after the split. That, plus his time at Hibs puts him in the "Thanks for earlier, but no thanks for now" camp.

If you ignore the fact we were lucky not to be relegated when he was in charge, then Aye.
