  1. The state we are in, we need someone who has a few years management experience under their belt. It would be great if we had the luxury of time to allow a new boss with new ideas take over, but whoever comes in needs to stop the rot first.
  2. Can you auto-correct "punching above our weight" to "playing to our strengths" ?
  3. Fair enough. But is looks like you are agreeing with me.
  4. We have bested them, because we played well as a team, had more consistent performances from players with similar talent to the other teams, and had a big slice of luck when it came to injuries and suspensions. The same team that got us to 2nd place last season is now struggling to avoid relegation. That is how slim the margins are and how closely the teams are matched.
  5. Jewell made a pigs ear of the job at Ipswich and I'd have the fear if he took over our squad.
  6. Very few Scottish managers in the game who won't have some connection to our sectarian cousins.
  7. Never rated him as a manager or a player. Would not want him near Fir Park.
  8. He might have got the manager wrong, but at least he had the correct spelling of "Humphrey". Seemed to cause as many problems as "Hutchinson" with half the posters on here. *sits back and waits for all the typos in this post to be pointed out*
  9. Butcher was the right man at the right time for us, mostly for the way he dealt with things off the park. The 2nd half of his tenure was pretty poor on the field. I'm also still amazed at what an easy ride he is given by fans concerning his departure, especially with all the hate doled out to McGhee and Brown for the way they handled their exits. Seems like most folks have forgotten the porkies told at the time.
  10. Unless Falkirk haven't met the dodgy stadium criteria, then it's fine for teams like us not to be relegated. Or if there is a league restructure after we finish in the relegation spot - then it's also fine Seriously, though, I completely agree. If we don't stick to the rules, then what we end up with is American style leagues.
  11. Totally agree. It's the "punching above our weight" mentality that has led a to few poor performances in Cups when we play the "big" teams. If we won the league, then maybe there would be an argument to use that phrase, buta part from that, there isn't much to choose between the non-OF teams except depth of squad.
  12. Sounds more like "we're selling a club", but close enough...
  13. If anybody had a bet on McCall the last time around, now would be a good time to post who your favourite is this time.
  14. Billy Davies needs a new job to start rebuilding his reputation.
  15. Are the Dundee Utd. boards full of "just our luck to get a team with new manager looking for a result" posts yet?
  16. Of course your delighted to see him go. It must have been a struggle to keep posting your misery-laden doom and gloom predictions against our most successful post-war manager. Fingers crossed the next guy gives you results closer to your predictions, eh?
  17. I can think of half a dozen worse defeats than that without even trying. From Queens Park to Berwick Rangers.
  18. Doubt it. If there are really new owners on the horizon (and I still have my doubts), I'm sure the board would be smart enough to at least discuss potential appointments with them. Otherwise, they would be adding guaranteed uncertainty and instability to the mix, which neither they nor the prospective owners would want.
  19. John Collins would have been my pick, but I presume we couldn't get him now. Plays the game the right way, and knows a thing or two about footballers' fitness.
  20. It's going to pretty entertaining on here when McCall's Rangers team his handing out a customary stuffing to us next season.
  21. You can give the guy credit for his integrity, but even by your standards, the rest of the logic in that post is laughably ignorant.
  22. Still not sure what the Tommy McLean theory is based on, especially as we need someone who can turn us around in a few weeks. Presumably there's a reason the guy hasn't managed a team for 16 years, and regardless of whether it's through choice or circumstance, it sounds too big a risk to me. And I say that as someone who regards McLean as the best manager at Fir Park I have seen in my lifetime.
  23. Joe Jordan probably earns more in a week than we could pay him in a year.
