  1. Not to bad here. I can watch a couple of EPL games and then sit down with my lunch to watch ours on Alba. Aye, no argument there. That's the downside - and you can't fast forward even though it's a recording!
  2. England? They aren't stupid enough to invite them in. They want to be Irish, let them go and play in the Irish league. And if they take their obnoxious brother with them, even better.
  3. To be fair, a successful New Firm will attract a lot more viewers than Motherwell/Accies is likely to draw. It was a relief when those 2 were winning leagues instead of the Old Firm, and if it happened again I wouldn't be too disappointed (apart from it not being us, of course).
  4. Agree with both points. If we are looking for a long term replacement, let's take our time. I'm sure there are plenty of options out there and we can point to Ruddy and Randolph as examples of career development.
  5. Couple of years before I started following the 'Well, but a lot of familiar faces who were still playing during my early days. Think I had all of them in my football card collection too.
  6. Only if he can cover U20 and First Team duties, and I'm not sure that's always possible.
  7. Worst Euro performance I have ever seen was Nancy away. The fact that so many fans made the trip and had a great time seems to have papered over the cracks in that one, but it really was dreadful. Good to see that, true to form though, the Achievements thread has already morphed into the criticism thread.
  8. Oh, no argument there. And like I said, I don't know if McCall intends to bring in competition for Neilsen or backup for him. If it's just backup while Hollis is out, we'll be looking for potentially just a short term loan and I imagine our targets would be significantly different. Just seems that many posters assume we are looking for a Neilsen replacement when that might not be the case.
  9. It was an off the cuff remark in an interview, but when I heard McCall talking about signing a keeper on loan if Hollis required surgery, he specifically talked about needing to sign one "for the bench" rather than to replace Neilsen. If that's the case, then we won't be bringing attracting anyone looking to make a name for themselves in the first team.
  10. The reason we lose more "big" games than little games is because they are, by their very nature, games against the better teams. However, you don't finish as high in the league as we have in recent seasons without winning your fair share.
  11. But the formation and tactics that were imposed on them were still negative.
  12. "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" If he could identify the points we had picked up at Parkhead and Ibrox using this strategy, then there would be some justification. It has, however, been a demonstrable failure.
  13. When you build a team and its tactics on open expansive play, it's no surprise that they can't switch to more negative tactics a couple of times a season. I can somewhat understand it in a Euro game against superior opposition (although I don't necessarily agree with it), but in a league game when only 3 points are at stake, just go and play the style that has been picking up points and see what happens.
  14. I don't disagree, but people on here were raving over what a fantastic keeper Twardzik was and he was of the punching/palming variety.
  15. If you need flash on the iPhone, the Photon Browser app usually does the trick.
  16. If Kerr is fit (and the official site says he's "back in contention") then I don't think we need more defenders. McCall did say if Hollis required surgery he might be on the lookout for another keeper, though.
  17. Unless we're winning I had a Celtic TV stream on Skippy Sunday - very entertaining last 15 minutes.
  18. Craigan had the experience, but he was slower than me and his passing out of defence was, to be kind, mediocre. I think the partnership with Reynolds was greater than the sum of its parts, though, as Reynolds was a faster and a better player on the deck. Wouldn't have either of them in my best ever, but both players I was happy to see in a 'Well shirt.
  19. SPL goal scoring record, obviously. Most records are pre and post war. As our stats expert, I thought you would know that (and understand why).
  20. I liked Reynolds when he was with us. 150+ games by the time he was 23, so although he had experience, he still had some rawness to his game. I think his improvement has continued since he left us and he has been one of Aberdeen's better signings.
  21. Higdon beat our goalscoring record on his own, but you thought he was mince. Statistics, eh?
  22. The one positive is that I heard was Vigurs saying they were going there to win. Makes a change from the usual "We have to be at our best and catch them on an off day" patter. Be happy with a good performance, and a point would be a bonus. Just get in about them and see what happens.
