  1. Sutton has grown more confident as the season has progressed and I think he will give the Hearts defence a tough time. That, plus the fact he has a point to prove, makes me predict a 3 - 1 win.
  2. Last time around the Blades forums didn't seem to rate him. Mostly full of patronising stuff about 'SPL success doesn't count because it's a wee league' etc.
  3. This. Plus the CIS Cup Final and finishing bottom of the league makes me think people are viewing the past with claret and amber tinted specs. Nothing against Butcher - he was the right man at the right time for the club, but we are a better team and have played better football overall in the past few years than we ever did under Butcher.
  4. He was, but he did talk about coming of the bench to run at Izaguirre with fresh legs.
  5. Where did you get that information? McCall said he was only ever meant to get 45 - 60 mins (because he played the full 90 against Livi) and they took him off at half time because he felt his hammy tighten.
  6. Absolutely. Shame to see him go, but always good to see the talent at our 'provincial' club being recognized.
  7. The only one I ever knew was: Oh, Wullie, Wullie.. Wullie, Wullie, Wullie Pettigrew!
  8. Confirmed on Twitter - Gordon Young leaving.
  9. A small sample set, but when I have seen him on MFC TV playing for the U20s, he always looked the part. Unfortunate with his injury last season, but good to see he has made a full recovery and banging in the goals again.
  10. McCall said in his post-match that the plan had been to give Faddy 45 - 60 minutes in this game seeing as he had played a full 90 against Livingston. At half time he said he was feeling some tightness in his hamstring so they kept him off for the second 45.
  11. Chris Humphrey owned their back 4 last season, so I'm confident if we play with a bit of pace in the team we can win this by a couple.
  12. Quarter final of a (seeded) League Cup is unlikely to produce anything fresh.
  13. Aye, because jinxes are real (scientific fact).
  14. Ramsden for Sunderland (Manager!) Is someone on a wind-up? Read this in the rumours in today's Scotsman
  15. Morton fans were not chuffed in the run up to that game either. Having said that, we are quite capable of blowing a League Cup tie to lower league opposition.
  16. Priority number one is winning this tie. If we can get some of the fringe players involved during the game that is great, but only if it doesn't risk our chances of moving into the next round.
  17. He'd have a lot to live up to at Firhill given Lawless' SPFL goal tally (total of 2; both against Ross County)
  18. The straight banana was a myth created by the right-wing tabloids.
  19. I vote for a custom designed Kappa kit
  20. I don't think shutting up shop is the game plan. It's more a consequence of not taking our chances when we are on top. However, the players have handled it not too badly, so can't complain too much. Be easier on the old ticker when we get 3 goal leads though.
  21. Except it's not quite bang on the money because it seems that everyone does understand the uproar against the police action. However, you are allowed to disapprove of the police action *and* question why anyone is stupid enough to let off a smoke bomb in an SPFL ground in full knowledge that it would likely have a negative impact on the club and the bois excellent reputation. Condemning the smoke bombers in no way means you are condoning the police.
  22. The police overreaction was wrong. The smoke bombers were wrong.
  23. That's it in a nutshell. Everyone knows by now that you can't let off smoke bombs inside any SPFL ground. Regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the regulation, you can't argue it exists. Moreover, after all the good work done by the bois (and the club) to promote themselves and gain wider acceptance at away grounds - this is a backwards step. If the club is fined, that just makes it even worse. None of that excuses heavy handed policing or stewarding - some common sense needs to be show by them too. But why even give them the chance?
  24. Saints have never forgiven us for that famous Cup game where they felt we kicked them of the park (which was ironic given their style of play at the time). We could play like Barcelona and they wouldn't give us any credit for it.
